I grabbed this update solely because it claimed to fix issues with wifi and iOS 6. Prior to the update controlling the camera with my ipad was virtually impossible. I could log on to the camera witht eh ipad but the connection would go sour pretty quickly. The connection was just good enough to make one think that it was working and then the app or the camera controls would freeze. After a short bit of testing today I'm cautiously optimistic. I encountered a few situations today that would have certainly caused am app hang prior to the firm ware update but were resolved smoothly. There is some hope for the camera control over wifi i think .

Hi Mark,
Are you using the WFT along with ipad? I am looking for something which can work in remote locations.

Yes, I am using the WFT with my iPad 2 . I haven't put the system through the wringer yet, but the connection to the camera with the updated firmware is far better so far than it was with the 1.07 firmware I was running before.

Good to know. I have had the same problems you had prior to this update. I hope this really fixed the problem as I'm tired of looking at my $600 adapter collect dust on my desk.

Prior to this update the WFT adapter was known as the "WTF?" adapter for those people trying to control the camera from an iPad.

Do we really need a brand new thread for a simple firmware update? Why won't the mods sticky any threads for a compiled list of firmware updates. I've already tried this and we still get a brand new thread for everything.

What are you talking about? A new firmware update being announced is a perfect reason to start a thread. It's not like FW updates are coming out every week.

There's a sticky thread for your picture styles. It's not like picture styles are coming out every week, right? And it's only good practice that software iterations are catalogued. That we we don't have to discuss over and over again if feature A B or C exists.

I used the WFT Dongle quite a bit the last few days with my iPad 2 . The WFT adapter which was a 600 dollar waste prior to this update is now actually usable and quite reliable. I could log into the camera wifi, use live view until my ipad screen went dark, the open up my browser again and pick up right where I left off without a problem.
Compare hat to just a few week ago prior to the firmware update I could log on to the camera wifi with teh same iPad and get a few minutes, if that of connectivity to the camera before everything would go sour and cease to function, necessitating a power cycle of the camera and logging into the WFT adapter wifi .
The firmware update has turned this otherwise expensive and useless wifi dongle into something reliable and very useful at this point.

Minor update - yesterday I had my c300 rigged on a car mount . I was controlling the camera from my iPad while in a separate chase vehicle which worked remarkably well . I did lose contact with the camera a couple of times when the spread between the cars got too great which is to be expected . Other than that the wft worked really well with the iPad

That's great news. I've been having terrible connection issues with my WFT-E6A adapter as well. Repeatedly on the phone with Canon trying to troubleshoot the issue. I hope they come out with a firmware update for 1DC with respect to that as well. Good to know.
