Just got my freebies in the mail from Canon for being one of the first 1,000 purchasers of the C100 Mark II – a red-stitched hand strap in a fancy box (ooo-la-la!), the most intense USB flash drive you've ever seen (it's comically huge), and a hardcover 292-page book/catalog for EF lenses. Hilarious. Made my morning Canon.

If you fancy selling your hand strap and EOS book, I'd be happy to take them off your hands :). Just PM me.

Hope you got a screenplay ready brah, because this time next year the Oscars will be callin.'

Haha nice - I had nothing for scale.

You should build a massive rig for it, or put it in a pelican case and use it to deliver projects.

I just got my C100 MII here in Japan, and have been shooting quite a bit with it. Coming from an FS100, I really love it!
So happy that my files are still small! And with the great colours, the RGB parade and ND filters included, it really reduces the amount of grading needed.

I am mainly shooting it handheld with no accessories except a shotgun mic, and sometimes use a monopod with long lenses.
I am selling so much accessory stuff, now that everything is included, it really cleans up my room and camera bag!

This video was a quick turnaround, edited in one night. I didn't do any colour correction at all, except for the time lapse shots which were shot with the Sony AS200 Action cam.

Could I do the same work with my FS100? Sure, but the Mark II makes shooting so much more comfortable and fun!

Still debating with myself if I should sell my mixpre-D, don't really need it but it's just such a nice pre-amp. Does anyone still use this or another pre-amp with the the C100?

I found the audio recording quality on the original c100 very good and would imagine the mark2 to be at least as good. I still like to use the mix pre-d when I can though - the audio level controls on the c100 are in a bad place and difficult to control, and the meters and headphone output on the SD are so much nicer. But for actual audio recording quality the c100 is the best in camera I have used - much better than the sony fs100, fs700 or f3

+1

Cheers, I guess I'll keep it for now, for when I work with a boomer. And audio CONTROLS are actually the only thing I might prefer on the FS100.

I wish the Mix Pre came with a better mounting option for underneath the cam. When they made that expensive bracket to mount it under an XLR, they could at least have added some screws instead of 1 1/4 inch... Same goes for the mounting on it's bottom.

Yes, you should keep it. The MixPreD is built like a tank and will not become obselete. Who knows what cam you will be using in 5-6 years. You could also use it with a cheap audio recorder to do voice over. I too have the MixpreD and a C100 . Although I don't use my MixPreD all the time, when I need a mixer with proper knobs, the MixPreD is just about perfect for a one man band. I also have a GH4, the MixPreD is a pretty good companion for it too.

Just my 2 cents - The audio quality on the C100 Mark II has wowed me in a big way. Most of the time I only need 1 mic (for interviews) so I take the top handle off, slide a Sennheiser G3 wireless receiver into the cold shoe, and connect it to the camera body with the 3/8 jack then set audio on AUTOMATIC LEVELS... this is the first time Ive been able to set audio on automatic on any camera or device and it works flawlessly. All the devices and cameras I have previously tried it on couldnt adjust the change in levels fast enough or smooth enough to be usable. On the 100 Mark II its like magic (though I havent tried it yet in an extremely noisy environment).

The other day I was doing a run and gun type of thing where the main guy on camera was wearing a wireless lav. He pulled another guy aside and started talking with him. The other guy wasnt mic'ed and the audio was set to auto like I was saying - it sounded like the unmic'ed person had his own lav on. There was no audible adjustment in levels from when the mic'ed up person spoke and when the other person spoke, it was incredible - all set to auto levels, something I would never have considered before.

Overall, the C100 Mark II is by far the best camera I have ever owned/used not only from a image quality standpoint but also an ergonomic one (besides the physical audio control location).

Automatic...really? You were very lucky on that shoot. Setting the audio levels to automatic is looking for trouble if you ask me.
