C300: Canon at NAB2015 starts to make "headlines"

1″ CMOS Sensor? its a full frame? photo 35mm ff?

Nope, think 4/3rds size, albeit a bit smaller still. If its 1", could be the Sony sensor on their current G7X point and shoot camera... I would say this is not a GH4 competitor, but a Canon XM/XH follow up... For 1", the lens is a bit disappointing on the wide end with only 2.8 aperture. But it does look compact, and a good candidate for Drone shooting, provided it has the low light capabilities of its Higher end C siblings..

3.9x crop. Yeah that sounds exciting... Having used DSLR cameras during the early days when they got video to shoot pro stuff I can't ever see me stepping into something that bad again. Looking back image quality and the crazy rigging appears insane. Sure the newer cameras have better IQ but just as bad rigging as before.

1" is smaller than m43. Well, it's actually three thirds!!! It's a 2.7x crop factor with respect to full frame photography, or basically the same as S16. Think BlackMagic Pocket.

It was simpler to make a 600D model with with no mirror, good EVF and 4k super 35mm video sensor...fixed lens no thanks.
Or even a Canon M with 4k video upgrade...
The design its like a 2001 year retro.
( i prefer the small red dot of the mark I cinema line in the rec button, not a big red one)

Its just a camcorder with a funny (for a camcorder) shape...totally pointless...!!! ''GH4 competitor"....I wonder how that term came up...

Aperture is aperture. Focal length is focal length. Crop factor is irrelevant.

Its relevant regarding DOF and that I think is what nyvz is referring to. If your going to quote FOV equivalencies they might as well go for DOF equivalencies but that is a number people would react negatively to which is why its left out.

It's only relevant if you are specifically trying to match the look of full frame.

Or if you are trying to create a specific look. Its good to be aware of what is and isn't possible is all I'm saying. They gave equivalency for FOV to FF as that is a selling point. They left out the DOF equivalency numbers on purpose as most users looking would be disappointed.

The glass makes it a complete non-starter for me. One of the benefits of a larger sensor is the control over dof, but that slow fixed lens to a large extent does away with that advantage. Had hoped they could at least make it a constant f2.8.

I thought this thread was supposed to have C300 MKII speculation? Why are we discussing prosumer mock ups?
Well, depending upon its final specs, it could have been an alternative.

It's unlikely to be such, however. A poster on CR said it's a consumer camera that will be released in time for the summer (travel/vacation season).
