C300: Canon at NAB2015 starts to make "headlines"

Who has time to create such elaborate fakes like this? Someone must not be working much to have the time to create such an elaborate charade.

With the level of features, performance and price of the FS7 Canon will really have to go all out and do something they never done before. I doubt it. There will be one or two new cameras with great features and performance, but it will cost you.

Agreed. We'll see though...

i dont believe in c700 , i would but there is already C100 II, so why giving new names if they already updated one of them. so i do believe in second version only. not in new name

It's a fake and they sure went through a lot with that press release ...
Correct!

It was written like a Christmas shopping wish.

Yes, there'll be something somewhere down the road but this was designed to coincide with the NAB and it got a lot of things wrong to even be a solid fake.

It's like an announcement for a Jurmala beach opening, 50 KM east of Riga.

There have been rumors about the C500 being in a body that's closer to the Alexa than before, but I wonder if Canon will ever actually bother.

They have a great cinema lens business, they sold lots of C300s, the C500 made a moderate splash because of its size/ability to match the Alexa, but going headfirst into competition with Arri/RED/Sony/Panasonic in the high end market might not really suit them. It's probably a low margin business, they don't have the sensor tech of the other companies (Varicam 35 has usurped them in low light, most likely) and they're not a workflow oriented company like the others.

I wonder if we'll see a C500 at all, if they give the C300 mkII the same 4k RAW capabilities (which they should, they don't have an FS7 vs F5 situation).

It kinda looks like the hybrid baby of a DSLR and C100. To be honest it looks like the best of neither world.
If it's got the C100/300 sensor then it could be a winner but with a fixed lens how is this a "GH4 competitor"? Might be a great B cam if it does have an EF mount.
I think Canons only hope to retain DSLR video users now is to knock it out of the park with the 5DIV, which it won't (and not for some time).

Anyone read Chinese? I wonder when these pics were taken and what is the info on the sensor and lens. Does it have dual pixel autofocus.

佳能发了4K新概念相机!小泽老板爆猛料了!然后突然出现不速之客,抢走了相机!

Off Google Translate -

Canon made a new concept 4K camera! Ozawa boss burst dirt up! Then suddenly appeared uninvited guest, snatched the camera!

The guest surely looks like Jackie Chan. Which makes this legit!

This ought to be priced at around $2,000 (half less than 5D MKIV). 10 time zoom, F 2.8/5.6, fixed lens.

Might be good as an event/wedding camera.

15 stops.

Where are you seeing that? Wish the lens was faster. With that lens this is not a camera for me. There is a rumor the G17 will have a 1" sensor and a f1.2-2 24-168mm lens. Was hoping the lens was gonna be more like that.

Its pretty annoying and misleading when manufacturers or anyone states 35mm equivalent focal lengths but not apertures.

Would have been nice if the lens was at least as appealing as the one in the RX10. Disappointing.
