canon aps-c cameras for video comparison

Hi all -

I'm considering ditching my GH4 and going back to a canon aps-c camera. I'll mainly be using it for video though so wanted to know if there is a difference between the 600d all the way to the 760d and everything in between? I've stacked the tech specs between them all and there's some differences in still image but all the official spaces say for video for each one is '1080p recording'. Once magic lantern is added is there actually a difference between any of them?

Thanks!

There are many different models and the main differences are:

- Some have DPAF and/or a touchscreen
- A few extra buttons
- Mic and/or headphone input
- 1080/60p

Around the $1K price range, the 80D is the best one right now IMO.

But as far as ML is concerned, the software isn't available for all of the cameras (and I haven't kept up with the developments in years), so you'll want to check out their site/forum and see if ML applies to the camera you're interested in and/or which ones work best with the hack.

In the past, they usually try to get as much as they can out of each camera, but not every ML feature applies to every body.

Without the hack, all of the cameras have similar HD quality (besides the 1DC), but the newer models look cleaner/have better ISO performance.

Of the Rebel series, the T5i hit a sweet spot on the image sensor. It doesn't offer headphone out or 1080p60, and the HDMI out does not send a full-screen frame (the data readout is full-screen, the image is not), but the images are cleaner at high ISOs.

I agree with NorBro, though, that the 80D is the best in the <$1000 offerings from Canon. 1080p60, headphone out, full-screen image on HDMI out, cleaner images. I have one and have shot a few projects with it; I have not fooled with ML and don't feel that I need it.

Possibly one of the Eos M series cameras. I haven't read reviews on Canon's recent offerings, so I don't know how Canon Mirrorless cameras stack up against Canon DSLRs.
