Canon 7D wildlife shoot @ 24p, 60p (slo-mo) and Tokina 11-16!

Hey Tim Kay. Nice shots! Just curious on the Tokina 11-17. What f-stop did you shoot it at? I noticed the super close duck shots had some semi-shallow DOF. Did you shoot it at f2.8, and if so did you use NDs to cut it down?

Can you use ND filters on the Tokina 11-16 without Vignetting

Intersting question. Personally I don't own a ND filter yet. All the vignetting you see was added in post because I feel the effect can focus ones attention even great to a single spot on the frame. With the combition of ASA and apeture I feel I bring a bright image down pretty well.

Have you found these results true?

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Barry is talking about with this regarding the 720/60p mode of the 7D

Yeah, the 720p mode is awful and can't hold a candle to the GH1's 720p mode,

I'm trying to gather all the info I can on vid DSLRs for a purchase pretty soon and 60p is something I'll be using regularly. I'll be damned I can tell a difference between the 24 and 60 stuff in this vid. Nice work.

This concept might be slightly confusing, but it's really the same thing. Because shots in 60p were slowed down to 24p (using the technique in cinetools) A good shot at seeing this is when the bird is taking off or flying over the water. Had I just shot it in 24p and slowed it down it would be much choppier, but slowing it down from 24p gives me over twice the frames per second, thus creating a nice, smoother image.

ps - sorry for the slow reply!
