Hi,
Just wanted to post this video for all of you that have a Canon 7D like me and are looking forward to buy a GH3. Nothing scientific on this video, just a short clip of both cameras.

Clearly the GH3 wins since the 7D couldn't even pick up the man in the background working in his yard ;)

The GH3 does seem to handle that picket fence strobing a bit better. You may want to hang on to your 7D for the Magic Lantern raw though!

Neither of them handle movement particularly well - look at the passing cars; but if anything maybe the GH3 is even worse. The one thing I am very disappointed by with my GH3 is how much jitter there is in any footage with objects moving, especially if they move at any reasonable speed... can't speak to the 7D as I don't have that.

OldCorpse, that shouldn't really be happening. Shooting at 24P will cause stuttering during fast camera pans or for that matter, fast moving objects on screen due to the low frame rate.
What are you seeing specifically that makes you think it is a problem of the GH3 and not other cameras?

here is an interview i filmed with my panasonig gh2 (no hack) and a canon 7d. Which cam do you think was used for each shot?

With a 12 minute cut-off on the 7D and overheating problems I wouldn't care what it shot I wouldn't buy it. It was a great forerunner of the DSLR movement but has been severely superseded all round.

I have absolutely no regrets selling my 7D and picking up a GH3. Yep, the GH3 is far from perfect but I prefer everything about the GH3. Better image quality, better usability and 1080p50 that trounces the moire riddled 720p50 of the 7D.

In regards to motion, you are always going to get jitter in fast motion when shooting 24 or 25p. Film cinema cameras do the same as does every camera in 24p mode. You will notice it at the cinema too. 24p just doesn't have enough frames per second to render motion smoothly.

exactly why i sold my 7d and bought a GH3 to go with my GH2

I sold my 7D and L glass and upgraded to a GH2 and vintage lenses. After using both heavily, the only advantage I can see with the 7D is the nicer housing and speedy CF cards. In terms of actual image quality, the GH2 smokes the 7D in every regard.
