Canon 7D Lens Footage

I thought it would be cool if people could post footage using their lenses so that others could get a preview (like pixel peeper).

Personally, my plan after getting a 7D is to use pixel peeper to narrow my lens picks and then rent them before I buy when I get a 7D but I thought others who already own them on the forum would totally be able contribute some awesome footage.

So, hopefully some people can post some samples including the following info:

1. Lens name
2. Distance from subject (handy to see how wide some lenses can get).
3. Aperture and ISO

Thanks in advance to all posters!

Will people be posting videos or just the still image? Also I think it would be good to be more specific and have people say what type of compression and processing methods they used.

Such a library would be cool. But people need to really be specific about their settings. And, in my opinion, everyone needs to include a rack from macro to infinity to show breathing.

The library of footage is a great idea.. but as you said.. people would have to be super super specific. What's breathing btw?

Breathing refers to when a lens' optics change the apparent focal length slightly when shifting the mechanical focus. Some (often more expensive) lenses are designed to lessen the degree this effect. Lens breathing does not prevent one from racking focus or following focus with this lens, but it lessens the desirability of any type of focus adjustment, since it noticeably changes the perspective and composition of the shot.

I'll probably end up doing something like this on youtube in the next few months. I already get an inbox full of questions on lenses every single day, we need to have a resource to reference their capability in movie mode.

So please tell me if I'm correct here...

Would this be an example of breathing if when I am focused in on a subject, then go to switch the focus, they seem to move back into space before going out of focus?
