Canon 7D banned from reduser.net

I think it's good for DVXUser.com and Red's gotta do what Red's gotta do. If they feel it's in their best self interest then more power to 'em!

I didn't even know they had a subforum on reduser where the 7D would even get discussed. It must have turned rather south for them to remove it altogether. Seems like the mistake was starting it in the first place.

Well after banning any talk of the 7D they started their own thread:
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41220
I thought it was valid to have the other cameras section [especially] on the red site, as they are a new company and I, like many others, don't exclusively use one brand of camera. People use different cams for different productions. That's what I like about this forum. It's a place where familiar people cam share their thoughts on such things.

There wasn't until a few months ago.

Discussion of other camera's hasn't been banned, but it needs to be more directly relevant to the community (i.e. shooting a 7d and a red together, etc).

The "other camera's" section on reduser was a sub-forum of the cafe, a recent addition, and generally just a bunch of bickering without much substance. No need for that. Plenty of communities (including this one) that service these cameras comprehensively and are large enough to help swallow some of the usual associated 'noise' with new camera releases...

REDuser has specific objectives and focus for its community. 'other cameras' over there was little more than an experiment that seemed to do little more than encourage bickering. I mean, if anyone thought that a short-lived other camera section on reduser was actually a valuable resource, I'd suspect they would find other, more comprehensive communities to be the holy grail of a resource for them.

From our perspective, we have dvxuser already... reduser was a spawn of dvxuser. Originally started as a sub-forum on this board. It evolved and developed. 'other camera's over there, was redundant at best.

Now, everyone can go back to discussing other camera's on reduser that have a direct relevance to the community, and discussing other camera's in depth on communities committed to providing that resource. 'other camera's' on reduser just provided a breeding ground for folks to clash. no need for that. not productive :)

reduser is a resource for people who use red equipment, as well as a sandbox of sorts for the exchange of ideas that influence future RED product development. relevant discussion of other camera's is and always has been welcome there. don't need a 'other cameras' sub-forum to fill that need. other camera's opened the flood gates.

why were you removed? b/c you and I both know it has nothing to do with whether or not you own a RED...

If you have a real problem that needs solving, let me know. Otherwise..........
