Why is this a big deal? Or newsworthy at all? Its RED's forum - if they want to have it specifically talk about RED products, what's wrong with that? There are many other forums out there, like this one to discuss other cameras.

If they think like that, then why did they make that subforum at first place?

Thats a good question, it should really never had been made, it was made for some people who were professionals to post some of their work on different camera, and some people who were going to make the move to scarlet with their 7d stuff, to show what they were capable off...

It was deleted cause all that ever happened was people fighting

Having had a quick look at the red forum - er, it does seem to be, well, Red. All the topics have one thing in common - and it's not Canon.

Isn't this a bit like complaining that General Motors don't want to talk about Ford?

Or, in many minds, that the Ferrari racing division doesn't want to talk about the new Peugeot scooter...

Two very different products, with two different purposes.
It does not seem so in fact. No matters what they say. 7d threats and matters. It is additional advertising for Canon in my opinion.

A producer that I know said yesterday, if it worries Red, it worths to give it a chance, right.

Oh please, it was probably these Canon HDSLR fanboys talking smack about people who plunk down a significant amount of change for the Red. "But, but, you could just buy a 7D and that's all you need!" Gag.

It's like the difference between an eMachines PC and an Alienware rig. They're both PCs, right?

Hmm...you know...at first I would have probably agreed with how wrong it was that they did this...but from reading comments in this and other threads I think I now understand why they did what they did.

It is not the differences between technologies. The price point introduced by the HDSLR technology is the question.

It's causing an uproar here, I could only image the tension a Canon topic brings up in the RED forum!

All in all makes sense. Like others have stated great info here and it's better to keep 7d info in a few places then scatter it all over.

Personally I think it's better to have a healthy debate rather than simply squelch the subjects you don't want people to discuss out of business concerns or whatever the reasoning may be. Have those discussions in-house where you can inform would-be customers about their options and correct false rumors rather than forcing them elsewhere into less friendly waters. But it's RED's official board so they do whatever they want to. DVXuser wouldn't be a very popular board these days if the discussions had been limited to the Panasonic DVX100.
