Canon 7D 28-135mm Feels Cheap!

I am currently waiting for my Canon to arrive and I when to Frys to check it out while I wait. My gosh the Canon 28-135mm Lens feels like a toy. My old Nikon 18-200mm felt way more solid. I really hope Im making a good choice moving to Canon. Do all Canon Lens slide when pointed downward? I thought since the Lens didnt have a lock it would be solid. WTH is going on???

do your research very carefully before you buy. You need to cover 18, 25, 35, 50 and 85 first (typical cine prime set includes these). People generally buy a either the canon 16-55 2.8, the tamron 17-50 2.8 with VC or the the Tokina 16-50 2.8 because it covers almost the whole typical prime set right away for $600-1000 depnding on which lens you get. After you have that base lens you can add things like an ultra wide (usually the tokina 11-16 2.8) a fast 50 (f1.8 or 1.8) and an 85.

You also need to take into consideration that your lenses will last much longer than the camera and decide if you ever want to go full frame. I beleive that the manufactureers will eventully make a full frame dslr at $1000-1500 price point and I want lenses that can do full frame (which the lenses I listed above can't since they only support aps-c). If you are going that route instead, you can go for the 17-40 f4L and a 50 prime to start instead.

The tokina 11-16 2.8 which is super hot right now. That is the one exception to my don't buy aps-c only glass rule (personal rule since I also shoot 5dii). The tokina is one sick lens!
