Canon 70-200mm L IS

Has anyone shot a Canon 70-200mm side by side test with and without IS to see how effective it works in a car or helicopter, or have a link to a test you've seen.
Thanks.

Never seen it in a car or helicopter but I can say that it IS a must have based on my experience borrowing a 70-200 2.8L IS v1 for a weekend. I have a 180mm 2.8 prime and there is no comparison. You need IS on lenses that long. The good news is that you don't really need lenses that long on aps-c. After borrowing for a weekend, I found it only useful outside. Inside it is not flexible even in a big room because it is so long.

I'm gearing up for the next 5D when it comes along. The results have been so good with the 550D as a B cam along side the EX3 that I may be able to replace the EX3 rental with a FF DSLR as my A camera. I shot some car to car shots and realized the IS will most likely be necessary because no matter how well my camera is mounted there will still be vibrations and bumps in the road. I do think I will be able to get away with the f4 IS version since it will be used mostly in full daylight.

I ran into another shooter in a plaza last night testing a non IS 70-200 f4. Of course I asked if I could try it on my 550D for a few tests. There was a considerable camera shake at 200, but I was surprised that it was pretty good at 70. Since I would not plan to shoot anything over 70 without some kind of support anyway, I think the non IS would work out if kept under control. Even though at night, the color and sharpness looked great.
