General Canon 60D Weddings

Ruben, I watched them both. Excellent work, something you can be proud of.

So, we know you used the 60D, but what glass? You kept hyperfocal perfect for moves. 14L?

Slider?

Stabiliser?

Well what are you using to stabilize the camera? Some kind of steady cam? Do you record any audio directly to the cam itself with a boom attached? Or stereo rhode mic? IM curious to know what you charge (of course you can reply privately) on average to shoot a wedding.

Great stuff

Thanks!

A boom is an extendable pole that can vary in length from roughly 6 feet to 20 feet. You cannot attach one to an SLR!

Im trying to say this nicely. Dont correct me. Anyone that actually does this for a living is aware that when someone says "A boom" it means the whole unit pole and mic. Contrary to your condescending attempt at a correction, If the "Boom" has a mini stereo attachment connected to it (the mic) then it can be plugged directly into the dslr- mic input jack. Have a nice day.

Not to get in the middle of the argument, but the actual definition of a "boom" is the pole. A "boom" connects to a mic, or even a camera sometimes. So its not the whole pole + mic package, as it doesn't necessarily have to have a mic on it at all.

Just my $.02.

Nah nothing to get in the middle of. At my production company and others I have worked at- go get the "Boom" means the whole kit and kaboodle.

The question still remains "Does Ruben Senderey use a boom + mic connected to his 60d?"

No, never use a Boom at a wedding. It would be extremely intrusive.

No BOOM mic,
we use the senheisser g3 into the camera manual audio mode ,
and few Olympus ws-400s near the speakers of the band or dj

Ruben, Do you have just one g3 lav plugged right into the 60 D? Or is it receiving more then one lavs audio? Maybe a link to BH photo as to which G3 system you are using exactly ?

Thanks for sharing

Reuben- thank you for posting the links. Hugely helpful. Im waiting delivery on my TOkina 11-16 now. I plugged my Rhode video mic into t he 60d and got very acceptable results on sound. Very surprising. When you are using your steady tracker, are you using yo ur tokina lens?

Thanks

I totally agree. When I use my boom every day on the highest rated food show on TV I lift the whole thing (pole, shock-mount, mic) and unless you know something I don't, you can't attach that whole thing to a DSLR.

Yeah, so does every other person who uses a boom mic setup. Honestly, there's absolutely no need to mention "on the highest rated food show on TV", in that sentence... Even on my horrible, old backyard videos, I held the boom mic the same way you do on your "TV show".
