SGpro flip module - pictures of complete rig

Quoted from above:

'Missing from the rig is a small shim that will connect to the plate and between the rods to connect to the tripod, allowing the rods to pass over the tripod plate.'

Given the location of this, and the adjustability of a QR sliding plate, you should have no problems balancing the rig on your tripod.

Wayne, I will perhaps wait and see some future pictures. Sorry, I just can't picture it in my head, applied to the 'compact mode' setup. It is all looking good though.

hope fully soon i will have one up and running.... And i will post tons of footage and stills. I think this is going to be my bread and butter combo.

IS it possible to add another support near the end of the rail in the compact mode? This way the camera plate is actually screwed and sitting on two support points....

Chris,

Just a quick sketch on the photo to show what I mean. The red part will be a black aluminium spacer, the tripods QR plate connects to the bottom of this. With a combination of the SGpro's QR plate and the tripods QR plate, you will have enough adjustability to balance the rig over the tripod head.

Hi,

It is possile to have a second clamp attached to the rear, but it is perfectly solid without, it really is not needed.

Wayne, I am getting very excited as well. I will be in for one of those!
Little bit off, but will there be something like a hook for tape measure in this version?

Timur, looking forward to your footage, it always looks so sweet :)

Best,
Max.

That red marking on the picture makes me feel better. T
hanks Wayne.
I was on the fence about ordering one because of the all the riggin issue I see with the extreme....but this really makes it easy and shoulder mount freindly without having to spend a fortune on a Zacuto. I'll be getting one for sure!

Hey Wayne, I just wanted to say thanks for the pictures and add these from an other thread that I think will show other ways to mount the SGpro with the flip module using the Zrizer from Zacuto which funny enough is the only piece from them that has gotten reviews with a little play in it... I am thinking about going SGpro instead of Xtreme cause come to think about it it is only 1/2 a stop and the image is a hole lot more like ice cream cake

:cheesy: :birthdays:

From the "Feature film shot with SGpro" thread, posted by hoarp001

When you say it has reveiws with a little play in it what do you mean? The riser has no freedom or wobble when it holds the rods, its absolutly solid...

Oh.... nice, did you get it not too long ago? I heard only one problem with Zacuto stuffs that didn't get repaced an it was a Zriser, however the owner said it was minimal play nd not really a problem... I am glad to hear you haven't had any complaints at all... and I agree with you, it does look like the best way to go even though al the manufacturers are coming out with great alternatives, I will go with the Zriser and the SGpro with the SGflip for sure

There are adjustable alen head screws in the centre of the red thumb lever things. If you tighten that up you can remove the play, but i never had any play to begin with. the new set of rods is just as sturdy as the lower rods, and I wont have any problems attaching a hand grip to the front. Also sometimes I carry the rig upside down as there is less risk of damaging the camera handle. When I do this i grab onto the riser as its right in the middle of the balance point and I can carry it along upside down by the riser with no problems.

Its a great bit of aluminum and its an essential accessory for anyone with a flipped adapter in my opinion.

haha... sounds sturdy then :)
I want to see a video of you carrying it like that haha!

so you have the Zacuto rails right? cause that might be it... perhaps the guy has other rails and they were slightly off in diameter
Did you just buy the rails? and the Zriser? from them?

No, the long rails are the SGpro rails and the shorter ones that supports the mattebox and follow focus + the adapter are cheap ones from rafcamera. I did get some 4.5inch rods that came with the riser and they are very nicely engineered but no differnt from the cheap ones or SG ones.

Heres another photo of the rig side on.

Also I should point out that using the Z riser elimiates the need to fiddle with the shims for hours. The riser has two screws that allow the two sets of rods to slide apart. What I do is loosten these screws, line it up and join it together then tighten the screws up. When I change from the FX1 to HVX to Z7, it takes seconds to adjust the height, no shimming required.

Dual/Quad Rails for Flip!

Dual/Quad Rails for Flip!

DXMATEL This is our version of the flip. It uses a double rail system we call the 'Quad Rod' setup. Allows simply mounting the camera upside down within 4 rails. It takes about 2 minutes to familiarize ones self with the inverted camera controls. It spares the extra glass (2 extra dust surfaces) and saves weight while adding 2 extra rails for mounting additional hardware. It works well and I like it! Hope others will also. Hey Wayne and Dennis, nice looking stuff!
