I'm fairly noobish when it comes to lenses, and even more when using adapters for non Panasonic lenses. I am currently building my lens kit (only current prime is 20mm f1.7 pancake) and I recently found the canon 50mm f1.8 online.. would this be a good fit for the GH2? Its only $125 on amazon, a lot cheaper than my 20mm pancake.. being on a tight budget this seems like a steal.

Also, will it look a lot different compared to my 20mm pancake as far as image quality or even just the overall look? Would editing shots on my panny lens clash with the canon lens?

I imagine you are looking at the EF lense. Given that's the case, you will not be able to use that lens on the GH2 without a very expensive adapter that allows for manual control of the lens. What you should be looking for is an FD version, preferably f1.4 which will still require an adapter, but one that is vastly cheaper. Amazon will not be of any help here, you need to look on eBay.

And yes, there will be a difference in image look, plus the fact that the angle of view will be much narrower on the 50mm.

I have an FDn 50mm 1.4 and love it. Pair with Ceico7's adapter and you can probably get the two pieces off ebay for about $140 total.

Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 works wonders on the GH2. As trickhog said above, you can get that lens and an FD to M43 adapter for around $120 on eBay.

Don't buy the Canon EF 50mm f1.8. Like stoneinapond said, you won't be able to control the aperture.

Do yourself a favor and get an adapter from cieco7. First rate stuff that will not compromise your lens. Others may argue that cheaper is just as good and maybe that will work for you. But I have three different adapters from him and they are the best.
