Canon 24p !?

Hey guys,
:kali: you are going to hate me!

I converted from 30p to 24p with Handbrake. Doesnt seem so bad to me. Mmmh not sure though...
Am I doing something wrong?

Can we really get better quality with shake and the other super complicated conversion process ? :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I bought it and tried to use it. But it seems I can only manage one frame of the video. I don't get it. What is the best tutorial to understand how to use shake ?

ago?

tutorials? shake is very complicated.

Guys,

Shake is great for converting to 24p.
I cant see the difference with a native 24p.

But hey, the sound disapears in the video. I dont know why.
Do you have any idea why we cant output the audio as well?

Thx

A few ppl have been messing with pc options but as far as I know nothing is as good as shake

So what would be the next best thing, both on a Mac or PC? From what I've heard nothing else really measures up, as there are always artifacts or weird motion blurs, etc. And call me crazy, but what about Magic Bullet Suite for After Effects? Doesn't that convert 60i to 30p/24p as well as 30p to 24p?

Kinda bums me out as the rumored 60D would be perfect for me. I suppose it's not too late, since the 60D could have 24p, but I doubt it actually will.

That's the way I'm thinking too but I'm afraid of the AVCHD workflow and my tired old PCs and software. I don't think I can afford to upgrade everything. And I wouldn't wish the horrors of trying to buy a GH1 right now on my worst enemy...w8ing a month or so on the GH1 makes a bunch of sense and will probably make it available at list price from reputable sources.

even shake isn't perfect. the next best thing is a GH1

Or ignoring your own inner-voice and just using After Effects Pixel Blendish thing. That's the third best thing. It looks close enough to 24p and I doubt anyone will spot it if the content's decent enough.

I keep noticing when people talk about 5D Mark II 30p to 24p, they point out if you go frame by frame you can see the difference. Who the hell goes frame by frame besides people like us? I agree with you Kholi, if what you are shooting is engaging then nobody (besides us) will care that you used Twixtor instead or Shake or Vegas instead or Compressor.

The average viewer of web content or TV or feature films can not tell the difference.

So if AE pixel blendy magic thingy is third best, where does Apple's Compressor stack up on this list of possible magic frame blendy potions? You see, the reason I ask is I have Compressor, but not AE. I'd rather save the dough if you know what I mean, that is if I went with a Canon over the GH-1. I'm still juggling those balls in the air at the moment.

Pretty much, man. This is one of those things that I can look beyond because nobody outside of the forums is going to frame by frame. I'd LOVE some picture perfect 24P. Even in that MKii RED and GH-1 video the 24p out of the RED and GH-1 were like "omg I want that back" but the MKii 24p conversion didn't bother me one bit. Why?

Because the thing was shot well and it was close enough to 24p to satisfy. So be it.

Actually, let me revise that:

1. Real 24p Camera
2. Shake
3. Everything else (they all have their weirdness)

For PC, it's Twixtor or Pixel McMagicStuff

For Apple, Compressor

So I'm assuming Compressor is better than a Mac version of Twixtor? Although, Twixtor is still handy for slo-mo.

What is Pixel McMagicStuff? I'm guessing its either Magic Bullet or something that comes with a Happy Meal.
