Just tried it out on a 7d(unfortunately the crop factor kills the frame) on a super easy promo. New favorite lens.

What iso setting , aperture, shutter speed etc. were you shooting at?

For something very simple I think it looks good and works. It's a shame Canon does not make something wider like a 18-20mm with that kind of f stop

iso 640
shutter 1/50th
f/1.4

It wasn't completely night, which was the plan. The sky had some light left in it from magic hour. MY focal plan was around 11 or 12 feet so the dof wouldn't look so absurd.

I seen that lens is very expensive $1k+ , I would love to own it but sadly I can't afford it. Footage looks great though, good job!

Looks good. What was your steady device?

I rented the 24mm a little bit ago for some stills/video. I liked it a lot optically, but I don't really like the 24mm focal length on ASP-C sized sensors. It's awkward.

Rent it. I got it from a local guy. 50$ for 3 days. Or look at lensrental.com

Cropped sensors piss me off in general. The perspective the same the the fov is different. It does look weird. Esp for me bc I love wider lens lately. I try to avoid the 7d if I can but a friend of mine has it and we always work together so we never rent a 5d or an adaptor set up. And we never have the money to shoot 16.

I rocked a glidcam 4000. Hate it but it works, wanted some motion but not too happy with the operating.

dont get wats the big deal with the APSC sensor because if u were working with film it would be more or less the same FOV yet you wouldnt be complaining.

Can you be more specific? 35, 16, PL mount... 1.6 crop factor?

I havent heard this and interested about it

the sensor in the 7d is almost the same size as 35mm motion film. the "full frame" deal only applies when taking about stills. this is why the 7d is used with PL mount because those lenses cant work on the 5d full frame sensor. well they can work but u'd get vignetting. Also another reason why the AF100 (and i'm sure cameras to come) will be using these size sensors, apsc and 4/3rds because these sizes are only slightly smaller than 35mm film. the 5d sensor is similar to what they call Vista Vision in motion film which is 65mm i believe. (HUGE)

Bottom line is...when you put any full frame lens (any manual prime) on the 7d (which equates to 1.6 cropped in the stills world) its the SAME FOV as in you get if u put the a cinema lens on a film camera.

50mm nikon on 7d= 50mm super speed arri on a film camera

So i like to think of my 7d as my little film camera :D

edit...what i meant was super 35 film...which is what most films are shot on now.

u can read this
http://prolost.com/blog/2009/8/31/canon-7d.html

towards the bottom of the article u will see talk about sensor size

Thats good to learn, but I still want a full frame with a lens that is meant for a full frame. Esp when its wider than a 35mm. L series lens's are not designed for a 1.6 crop factor and has vignetting.
