Canon 1D MarkIV

yeah after I posted that I thought man i hope this doesn't turn into an epic thread

I agree with most of the wiki definition, but Titanic? it's a cheesy disaster film not an epic

Maybe in 20 years transformers will be as well regarded as star wars but I doubt it.

In twenty years? It won't even be remembered in twenty months. Forgettable story. Forgettable characters that are already fading from memory fast.

.....Now, that G.I. Joe movie is going down as a classic. ;-) Hollywood is a desolate creative wasteland when they have to turn to Hasbro for intellectual property.

LOL Well said. We hope for a golden days back. But it will be difficult with this mania around the special effects show off.

Cinema is beyond technology.

Even though I never laughed during Deuce Bigolo: European Gigolo, it's still a comedy.

(I never actually saw that movie)

I'm going to be pissed off if Canon comes out with a 24p camera but doesn't update the MKii's firmware to use 24p (assuming they can).

Technology is just a large part of Cinema as lighting is. It's because of advancements in technology that we have efficient lighting. Unless you want to go back to using Arc Lights. =P

Let me know who outside of the Hollywood system, not using a Hollywood Model, will save us and manage to sustain a lifestyle that allows them to carve out anywhere from five months to five years of their lives (sometimes spent away from home from family) to keep producing this stuff.

How is Transformers NOT Epic? It takes place in several different massive locations and the scope of the movie is massive. Regardless of if anyone thinks it's a good movie or not, it's still classified as an Epic Feature Film, and it's shot like one as well.

I enjoyed the first one. Definately epic, but not quite the class
of Laurence of Arabia, I should say.

The second one sounds like it is ANTI pc with crude racist jokes. Thats just reading about it, havent seen it.

Of course all these movies now are aimed at 12 year old boys it seems.
Can you imagine David Lean trying to work in todays Hollywood?

So all I can really like is the effects, since I can't really relate to being
in High school - lol.

That part which everyone call content is no more no less than the 75% of cinema. The remaining quarter is what changes or comes each year or so. It still is a too-big piece of the pie IMO. I am being generous. BTW, (only) half part of lighting is technology. Well, at times. LOL :-)

The perception of its size is what lacks to the hollywood industry and (other) poor [without commas] (l)imitations of today. Yes, 'cause I can live with the limitations of the technology of nowadays, not so pleasant to see the lack of creative innovation from. As well, the exorbitant misunderstanding about what the word cinema as art form means. Some call it aesthetics.

Whoa... I think I need to be on whatever you're on to read that properly...

I think he's trying to say hollywood is a waste of space......no argument here, no offence to the guys working there with talent.

how's that film coming along johnny?

:-)

PS: The word cinema can be understood by many forms. And it is misunderstood so many times. ~ Emanuel ;-)

I think we can forget about 24p on the 1D. Why? The 1D is marketed to sports photographers and photo-journalists who would be delivering any video content @ 30p. We just don't exist, such a waste of 2 digic V processors.

Canonrumors are now saying sept 1st for the 60D announcement.

Why offence? I don't think there's any offence on here. Just different backgrounds, experiences, points of view, knowhow, attitude.

panny really screwed up with their market expectations, I'm sure they didn't even consider the demand from filmmakers.
You can rest assured the 60D will ship in quantity.

you'd be surprised how sensitive people can be to a comment on a forum like this and in my old age I tend to take how people might misconstrue what I've said into consideration.
