C300: Canon 1D-c Great Video on Pulling Still From Video

I've been doing photography since 1971 or so when my gramps gave me a Bell & Howell with a Canon 50 f/1.4. In the early 70's I had a darkroom in my basement when I was in Jr high. It was a coolest of times to learn.

In the end of the day there's still no finer tool for my needs ever made than this new 1DC. 4k, s35 HD, full frame, 1080-60p, unbelievable stills capability. One camera that can give me anything from the big screen ultraHD to as high a quality print as a dslr can give.

It's an amazing time we live in. henri Cartier-Bresson is only rolling in his grave because he would love to have had one of these tools to work with :)

Cheers,
Pete

Other than rolling shutter, I am loving the 1D-C. Every other area of this camera is quite superb.

There will always be a better something, but other than rolling shutter, there is much to like. The rolling shutter is much like other DSLR's. Not like jello, but there. Anything with speed has a lean.

I just don't see the need to limit myself in getting the best picture or moment.

My reaction was to the statement that using a stream is lazy, and if you're a master you're able to capture the decisive moment in one shot.

And I think Vincent is a good example of a photographer that wouldn't hesitate to use his Epic to pull stills. IF he thought that it would benefit the end result.

OF COURSE, the possibility of shooting video shouldn't be an excuse not to learn the craft properly. But when you master all techniques you choose the one most appropriate for the occasion. And I will not exclude the new possibility of pulling frames now that video resolution is high enough for many purposes.

Also not out to change anyone else's mind. It's an evaluation process for everyone, I guess.
