Yeah, I know you're just being silly. But silly doesn't mean much of anything stacked against clinical research. Not even against bad clinical research.

True, but the problem with most clynical research is they need to show something to continue to fund their research. One group will tell us soft drinks are bad, and the next day another group will tell us it's not that bad for us.

Here's a simple idea... Anything done in moderation is fine, abusing by overconsumption is bad.
There.. Now the scientists can go research something worthwhile like turning water into fuel for my car so I can afford to go get some food.

You will not find a group of medical researchers that say 'soft drinks are not that bad for you'.
Science behind is very simple:
A healthy blood glucose level in humans is appr 90 mg/dL . Considering an average adult has appr. 5L blood, it means that total amount of glucose in the blood is appr 4.5 gr. Yes, only 4.5-6 gr, as little as a single sugar cube. (It provides 20-30 minutes energy for regular activity, so liver releases same amount of sugar(glucose) in blood every half an hour, and pancreas produce insulin for its transfer into the cells)
Enough science, now look at this picture:

You do this for decades. Body cant tolerate forever.
Infact, excessive sugar consumption may rival smoking in terms of chronic disease contribution to the body.

My point is when it comes to soft drinks there is no moderation; it is bad for you, period.

Okay.. so if I drank one 12oz coke a month (read: moderation) then it wouldn't be bad for me.
Say I ONLY drank a regular coke on the very rare occasion. That's called "moderation". Drinking a two liter bottle as in the picture you posted would be considered "excessive".

"In small quantities, sugar is not bad for you, but if you taking large quantities of sugar in then sugar is actually very bad for you."

As a covert humor analyst for the dvxuser forum, ugafan's humor tends to be acrid. Don't think any hurt was intended.

you'll have to rip the can of coke from my cold dead hands. (assuming i still have them after the cancer. )

Since when does pancreatic cancer treatment include the amputation of hands?

One of my favorite teachers died of this cruel disease. It was shortly after he retired. From what I observed, he maintained healthy habits. Researchers have a lot more to uncover.

My sympathy on the loss of your teacher.

Actually that's called "you need a dictionary".

Hmm...

"moderation: within limits, within bounds, in moderate quantities"

Since it's subjective I look at it like this.

One coke a year, RARE.
One coke a month : In Moderation
One a Day : Excessive
Several cokes a day: Overly excessive.

When I grew up my folks NEVER purchased soft drinks. I'd say once, maybe twice a year on holidays they'd buy soft drinks. So, RARELY, would we have soft drinks.
Having one a month would seem l;ike a lot to me.

Oh, we ate at McDonalds probably as often.. Once a year if at all. Not daily as many do these days.

ugafan was making a joke, big deal. It was actually kind of funny. :)

Both my parents died from pancreatic cancer. The odds of that alone are actually quite staggering. My doctor was shocked to hear that when we went over my family history.

Thanks to MRI's I'll be keeping an eye on my pancreas every few years to see if any changes occur. It's a really tough cancer to spot.

Lots of things cause cancer. My Mom drank plenty of pop, my Dad never touched it, go figure.

new study - a new study suggest saliva causes cancer , but only if swallowed in small quantity ,over a long period in time . ........ gulp.
