Cancer-Cola

Sugar is not bad for you, infact if it wasnt for the glucose we wouldnt exist. It is body's main energy source. You need sugar consumption in moderation; if you eat a halfspoon of honey everyday it is moderation, few pieces of dark cholocate everyday is moderation. Moderate use can be frequent, as long as the amount is right.
No, a soft drink now and then will not kill you. By the way I never met anyone who drinks coke 'once a month' only. It is usually either everyday(or very frequent) or never kind of habit.

Carbohydrates are the bodies main energy source (Most of do contain Glucose of course)

Sugar has zero nutritional value and is no bueno for the body.

Sugar (as well as refined carbs) spikes glycogen levels in your body which releases insulin which leads to diabetes, obesity, heart disease .....

Sugar is simply not good for you at all.

The average American would be better off cutting sugar out of their diet as much as possible.

Ha

Of course there's this

Confusion is coming from the definition of sugar.

suffix "ose" means sugar in biochemistry; glucose, sucrose, lactose, and fructose.

Table sugar, the one you describe as "zero nutritional value and is no bueno for the body" is sucrose for example.

Carbohydrates are either in simple, or complex form divided into 4 types:
monosaccharide, disaccharide, oligosaccharide, and polysaccharide.
Not surprisingly "saccharide" means sugar too.
When you eat carbohydrates they are broken into simplest sugar form of glucose.(A monosaccharide: simple-sugar)

More information is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbohydrate

So that is why I used terms carbohydrates and sugar reciprocally, blame the sugar manufacturers ;)
You can not say : "Sugar is simply not good for you at all" because your definition includes entire carbohydrate nutrition. Add the 'table' before the sugar and confusion is gone, you're right.
