Can this really have been shot with a 7D?

Finally got to download and watch it, and yet it does look very good. Up there with Patryk's film as some of the finest 7D footage I've seen. Curious as to what the post process was like.

Granted, it's still not perfect. Definitely saw some of those typical Canon issues, some of which might pass by quickly because of the editing of the trailer, but more noticeable in the slower-paced cutting of the film itself? As a DP, I would hate to deliver footage with moire on a shirt that's pretty much right in the middle of the frame.

Yes, it looks incredible! Looking at footage like this, people should just stop pixel hunting and go shoot something worthwhile.
By the way, the budget was supposedly 1 million. I wonder why they chose to shoot it on the 7D. They could have shot it on pretty much anything they wanted, including RED.

Guess they wanted to put the most of the $$ into the other things that would make the film good. The BTS albums are nice

True, and they are absolutely right. The hilarious thing is that there are people with 1/20th of their budget or less, killing themselves to shoot on RED or some other "better" camera because they feel it can somehow make their movie better.

Who are these people? RED rental packages are cheap/free (depending on who you know).

How come the red has come down in rental price anyone know? One person I was talking to said it was a pain to work with. As for me I never work with a Red so I have no clue.

I think the main reason is simply availability. There are a tonne of Epics and Scarlets out there.

Depends on what market you are in...I hear in L.A its less than chump change. Other places it comes at a premium...especially where I am.

I watched the film today online. I was searching for reviews and stumbled on a link online which wasn't the best of qualities but decent enough. Its a nice film. Looked great also. It sure beat alot of films with way more $. Wish more people would just make films with their "less than desirable cameras"...whatever camera that may be... and stop complaining.

I think you missed my sarcasm there.

I did miss the sarcasm, sorry

Mind elaborating?
Moire can become more or less previlent depending on focal length, Somtimes you can lessen or eliminate it by moving the camera closer or further to the problem area depending on what it is. Of course thats not always an option and therfore it can become a shot breaker and thats why so many hate shooting with Canon dslr's. Especially when its a paid job and the producer requests the canon dslr's, and you have to try to explain that the camera creates horrible moire problems, then they go " whats moire" errr.

and you have to try to explain that the camera creates horrible moire problems, then they go " whats moire" errr.

And then they're like, "That's fine." and then get the footage back and call you complaining because there are shimmering lines on people's clothing.

HAHA, yup. And it could have all been non issue if they would have listend to the camera ops advice to shoot the gh2, or af100, or fs100, ect..
