I have been searching as best I can and can't find the info I need. I came across this locally on Craigslist but am not sure if it is even worth pursuing. It is an old Leitz Elmar 5cm 1:3.5
Yes, I have already emailed Timur seperately, waiting to hear if he has any idea. I THINK it is an m39 screw mount, in which case its easily adaptable, but I can't confirm that.
These lenses appear to be m39 screwmount, therefore should be easily adaptable to ef mount.
There are even russian copies of these lenses that are supposedly as good as "the real" ones, while having a better condition overall due to them being more recent.
Good luck!
Before you waste too much time and $$$ on this, the short answer is _no_.
It's a Leica Thread Mount (LTM), not M39. The thread size is the same, but the flange distance is very different. M39 lenses are SLR lens with the same flange distance as M42, so very adaptable to the Canon EF mount.
LTM is for Leica rangefinders, and like the M-mount, the distance is much too short. Even with an adapter, you won't be able to focus much further than a few inches.
I can be adapted to m4/3 cameras like the GH1 due to the lack of a mirror and much shorter flange distance.
Gotcha, much appreciated, that was my first thought, then got more confused the more I tried to find out (THAT'S where learning gets ya! no more of that...)
You're welcome. I have a few old Leica's and similar rangefinders, so I'm familiar with the hardware. If the pics aren't doctored, that's a pretty clean lens considering it's from the WWII era.
