Can this be used as a monitor for a Director?

The new Nexus 10 tablet from Google has a mini-HDMI port. Just wondering if it can be used as a 'cheap' monitor for a Director. Hopefully I can use the HDMI out on my SmallHD DP4.
What do you guys think? Thanks.

are you sure that's hdmi in on the nexus?, most mobile devices are hdmi out only.

you could get another field monitor with some features for about the same, or slightly higher price that includes a hot shoe mount/can be connected and secured ( you would not want anyone to yank the hdmi cable with the monitor, or something that does not have a stand ), easily changeable battery, ...etc.

Director's monitor? Why not just buy something like a 20+ inch HDTV. Cheaper than any pro-level 7" or whatever. And when you're not shooting you can stick it in a spare bedroom. Your kids will love ya.

Using that app i linked to before it can work as a directors monitor. You will get focus peaking, camera control, I believe waveform or histograms and playback controls for reviewing clips. A lot more than just your standard hdmi in or even a lot of your cheap hdmi on camera monitors.

That being said If you are looking for an answer for video village i would suggest going for something like a cheapo 20" lcd. You can pick them up for just over $100 if your careful. Just make sure it has dvi or hdmi in. Then you will still need a way to monitor on camera however.

Thanks Michael & Treynolds. I will look at other options too; it just seemed like an interesting tool. I would have a way to monitor on cam using my DP4 as it has HDMI in & out.
@ Michael... I ain't got kids yet lol

Well the advantage i can tell you about using that app is that you will get video on camera or out of the HDMI port. So you could run hdmi out to your dp4 as an evf, then use the USB out to send video to the tablet as a directors monitor and you still have one more HDMI output to send wherever you need. Its how i work around not having hdmi passthrough on my monitors and things.

I use my 17" HD Computer Monitor as a Director of Photography with my Director. Better sharing that than any 5 or 8" little monitors I've used before
