Camera rumors for 2016?

Everyone forgot about the Athena ? I surely did not !
Athena was introduced as a "product concept" so that we could judge interest. We got a LOT of great response that has helped us in development of future products -- but they are quite different to Athena. This is what NAB was about maybe a dozen or so yeats ago -- companies could float ideas and large clients like the broadcasters and telcos would respond. That's how stuff was developed in concert, which is a hell of a lot different than today. Now NAB & IBC are huge marketing events.

Anyway, it's not Athena.

I will give one purposefully-vague hint: If you've been following CD for the past year or so and have really been paying attention to what we say and do, then this next thing will appear as a logical step.

Unclear enough for you? :-)

Everybody and their mother now is making miniaturized 4K cameras- mostly in 4/3 sensor format as they have become commercially available.
I'm currently working with two companies on such projects. I'm doing lens mounts and controls. They are not camera manufacturers per se...
My guess for CD...;-)

A dedicated, off camera switcher/SEG /streaming unit with multiple Iso track recording built in. If not, you're welcome.

You merged with or bought TVLogic.

So when is this IBC event? Sometime in Sept? What are the chances one of the major manufacturers (Pana/Sony/Canon) will announce another low cost M43 or Super35 sensor CAMCORDER (NOT DSLR) that does 4k? Not that anyone know for sure (who's allowed to say, that is), but educated guesses? Something that would actually come out around that time as well, not 6 months to a year later?

She's just a girl.

I thought it was Billie Jean !

It's a "tiny" event in Amsterdam happening 8-13 Sept.

Yeah, I went a few years ago and became close friends with the few other people who went. We rented a minivan and were able to drive all of us around to test some new cameras out around town. I'm just glad it's not like NAB, which required an entire bus just to fit all of the attendees.

What you will eventually see is something along the lines of a "Son of Athena". There were lots of great ideas in Athena and it spawned a lot more.
