Camera rumors for 2016?

Don't know if this is the right section for this, but here goes: are there any rumors about new (cinema) cameras for 2016 or late 2015, particularly sub-10k range? Some announcements coming up? We all know C300 MK II and URSA Mini are coming, but what else? Sony? Digital Bolex? AJA? Some other company? Or do we have to wait until NAB 2016? Do you have any hopes or dreams? What about price drops?

My fantasy is Sony putting F65 sensor in an affordable camera to compete against URSA Mini. Never going to happen.

i don't know of any rumors but I'm betting that we will see a C100mkIII (3) sooner than later. i believe it would at least have 4:2:2 8bit shooting 4k which wouldn't undermine the C300mkII with its much more robust internal codec options.

i don't see any reason why it wouldn't have the same DR as the C300mkII plus the killer dual pixel AF.

ill even go out on a limb and say it would have 4k @ 60fps but maybe only @ 4:2:0 which would make me happy but would still buy it without 60fps.

because the C300mkII is so packed with goodness canon could throw a few bones on a C100mkIII without compromising the 300 space.

all wishful thinking of course.

I really want a Canon 1DX II or a 5D Mark IV with 4K and super nice specs.

It would be very cool to see Canon pull out all the stops and just show everyone how powerful they can really be and produce an amazing modern SLR.

There is doubt on how far they can push it to not hurt the C300 Mark II, but I have faith...

IBC is just around the corner maybe something will be revealed there.

I think a C100mkIII isn't likely in a long while, the mkII just came out! (Canon isn't releasing cameras so often).

Sony most likely will release an A7SmkII. And I keep expecting they'll make a FS-series full frame video camera soon (placed below the FS7). They need something that goes with that 28-135 cine lens...

Other than that, most players have pretty much announced or released things quite recently, haven't they?

I forgot about that lens. Would love to see it in a fz mount for the f3/f5 series cameras or in nikon mount because I want it in nikon mount and why not?

I have it on VERY good authority that in 2016 most camera manufacturers will be switching away from black as the standard body color, and will be adopting the newly agreed upon standard of safety-orange.

gopro is set to release a full frame camera with an f1.2 lens and no fisheye effect while keeping the 120degree field of view. RAW recording too.

upgrade! upgrade! upgrade!

Apple will release an iDSLR... it will be use a non-standard proprietary lens mount and recording media that can only be bought at the Apple Store, and will come preloaded with "looks" that appear like everything was shot on poor quality film from the '70's or Polaroid cameras (and there won't be any other look options). It will retail for $5,000 (without lens). Hipsters will buy thousands of them.

C300 MK II has a dual sensor readout for its HDR (the same concept as Alexa) and I don't see it in a lower priced camera. Canon Rumors is "reporting" that 1D X MKII is out there already, which sounds like a reasonable niche for Canon to hit right about now - somewhere around $8K, the same body as 1D X/C, internal 4K with the same codec as XC-10, cropped or oversampled internal 4K, 24 MPX sensor. It wouldn't compete with C300 MKII but would be a solid hybrid offering.

And let's not forget about the expected Nikon D5 with similar (i.e., currently unknown) specs.

Canon Expo is in about two weeks. If the 1D XII rumors are accurate, this could be the time to announce it (and release it somewhere around Christmas).

PS. 2016 is a Summer Olympics year, so usually there's extra activity there. Euros'16 is less of a global attraction, unless you love footy (I love footy), but it's still a major sporting event.

 GASP!!! Say it isn't so! The end is near! I should have seen it coming when Panasonic introduced the HVX200 with that big glaring patch of bright red.
Next thing you know, dogs and cats will be living together!

GH5 with vlog will be introduced, Canon will introduce new 1d and 5d camera, sony will introduce a7sII with internal 4k, blackmagic will introduce 50 new products (:D i still love black magic)....oh samsung will probably announce nx2, and imho next year will be the year, when all new dslr type video shooting cameras and point and shoot cameras will have some kind of log profile (all new sony's with s-log, panasonics with v-log...etc...). Oh and new high fps dslr's/point and shoot cameras.

My "educated guess" (read: dream/hope) is a Sony FS1 (to replace the FS100, like Sony did to the FS700 with the FS7) and a Panasonic AF200 (because the DVX200 sure is not it!!).

On the stills cameras side, a GH5 for sure and an A7s mk2 (though the A7s mk2 might arrive late 2015 maybe maybe). Plus maybe a Samsung NX2 maybe perhaps near the end of 2016. I expect Nikon will keep on refreshing their cameras too, as all Canon. I expect their 5Dmk4 to be very underwhelming and overpriced. Doubt Olympus or FujiFilm will surprise us with any amazing class leasing video capabilities, though they'll likely keep on quietly improving theirs and catching up to be more half decently acceptable I hope and not just be stills cameras.

Blackmagic Design will surely release yet another camera (or three!!!) at NAB 2016.... !! :-o

KineFinity maybe perhaps might release a new camera. And probably we might see some other new fringe player enter the market, and/or see one of the existing very tiny players such as Digital Bolex or AJA announce their next new camera.

And I'm sure we'll see more than one weird out of left field announcement that none of us could predict, such as Sumsung announcing a high end "Samsung S300" (i.e. like a Canon C300, but from Samsung and rediculously high specced such as 6.5K raw at 240fps. Which apparently the NX1 sensor is capable of doing....). However of course by writing this down, it no longer is sufficiently far enough out of left field to count.

Digital Bolex is a garbage company initially thought by hipsters not knowing how fast technology changes. I mean the D16 is stupid ergonomic and design trying to be nostalgic... I'm surprised they haven't folded their cards yet because with their prices I just don't see them lasting long.

Surprise would be a $6,000 Panasonic s35 model with AVC-Ultra (which they really ought to consider).

As to Samsung, the upward creep has been a staple of the Korean companies. Today, they're making a $10,000 entry level compact; tomorrow you're driving a $60,000 luxury sedan and forget how they got from there to here. A 6K full frame PL mount with 200 Mbps HEVC internal to an SSD (naturally made by Samsung as well) would rattle a few cages for sure.

We all follow the same rumor sites and anyone here who actually does know about upcoming technology is under NDA.

This is true. But for the last few months, I've been out of the loop so I wanted to know if I've missed anything and if anyone has any guesses or wishes for new cameras coming up.

Sony FS1 sounds cool, but can't see it happening. And I don't think Blackmagic will introduce new cameras at NAB, maybe some new models that are specialized like the Micro. My hopes are that some new manufacturer will jump in the game and release a digital cinema camera in 2016.

My hopes for late 2015:

* Sony a7000 with clean internal 4K, slog2, IBIS, for around $1300 (basically an a7 II with a smaller sensor)
* Sony a7S II with clean internal 4K, slog3, IBIS, for around $3200 (better DR than the a7R II thanks to slog3 being its main selling point for video shooters)
