Camera is uncomfortable to hold..and LCD angle = ugh

lol that's what I was thinking.

Hahaa ,Actually I had an accident a few years ago and my thumb got seriously injured it works but sometimes It feels as if its not there. Writing a cheque can be a pain sometimes.

The reason why I would have preferred the record button a little bit further away is when I shoot handheld and I want to stop recording I cant press the record button without shaking are moving the camera a bit .Maybe my righthand is just to big or my thumb is just being a pain again.
Im very greatfull to have all ten digits.

Used the extended battery today, really balanced it out! Was able to handhold without issue. Threw the small battery on and yup....discomfort came back.

Appreciate all the constructive and funny suggestions. To all the guys who just talk sh!t...the world needs people like you so we can appreciate the ones who aren't ;).

Cheers to all the class acts here.

human: how did the large battery balance the rig out? The extended battery weighs almost nothing compared to the extended battery for the DVX/HVX.. I was surprised..

I moved from a Canon GL2 to the HMC150. In general I really like the 150, but I find the record button too small and located too close to the body to easily find with my thumb. I've had more than one occasion where I was looking through the viewfinder and had to poke around to find the record button. I've also several times thought I had stopped or started record only to find that I hadn't pressed the button firmly enough.

I think it would be a nice improvement to future models to have the most used buttons be a bit larger and have a distintive tactile surface that would allow you to instantly know you've found the correct button.

Do you not have a thumb?

Although the weight is a small difference, it made enough of a shift in the CG that it made it easier to hold.

I agree though, the battery is pretty light weight!

Please explain to me how holding an EX1 or HVX200 or doing bench pressing will increase the comfort in my hand?

Those are the most funniest replies I've gotten.

My strength is not an issue and I holding another camera won't help me with my situation (unless you meant to say "you should appreciate the form compared to XYZ camera" but that would be too easy). I would agree that the HMC150 is much easier to hold than the XL1 ;).

Anyway, I'm hoping with the extended battery that it will help the balance a small amount. I get the uncomfortableness in the front part of my hand not towards the back.

Cheers guys. You're all such a lively bunch :).

I think the 150 is one of the most comfortable and easy to hold cameras in its size range. Consider getting a monopod, its great for shooting interviews and extended takes.

Maybe it's just me (coming from a DVX/A1/FX1) but this cam gives me more hand fatigue when holding it despite being lighter. Do I need to "break in the strap"? lol

Also, I can't believe how picky the angle of the LCD in this thing is! I got used to the tiny LCD on the A1 and the easy to look at screen for the FX1 (since it's eye level).

Gonna take some time to get used to these changes.

Just griping ;)

I'm coming from a Sony FX1 and A1... Previously a Canon XL1S... I think the weight/size/balance is good. but I'm still getting used to a few things, like the "clunck" noise when the camera is off (thank god for forums like the one here) But one thing i hate about this camera is the viewing angle of the LCD. i miss the one on my FX1 :violin:

Oh well... lets try the panny mojo  my first post here btw
