Calling all Premier Pro CS3 users ( XH A1 )

There is no HDV 24f support in CS3 currently. I'm sure Adobe is working on a fix. The old HDV presets that are on Adobe's site do not work with CS3. Either use CS3 with the latest version of Cineform AspectHD or revert back to Premiere Pro 2.0 with the downloadable HDV presets.

I just imported some 24F stuff into CS3 yesterday and it works fine. That's pretty odd.

The 24f preset used to be downloaded and added correct? Might have to do that for CS3 like I had to for 2.0...just wondering if thats why he has the preset and you guys don't.

EDIT: nvm just reread papa's previous post. I guess that downloadable preset doesn't work?

I'm using the PP 2.0 preset. I installed it in CS3 the same way I installed it in 2.0. It's not designed for CS3 but allows me to open a 24f project and edit normally. There is a red line above my footage, but I've found no difference in speed of playback with clips in the timeline. As far as the wonky framerate bug Papa mentioned in another post, I experienced something similiar while using a Beta version of CS3, but I haven't had any problems with the final release. I will say that CS3 does a much better job of downconverting HD to SD. Premiere 2.0's downconversion was unusable.

i have version 3.0.0, does that make a difference?

I truly don't understand how it can work for you if there is no support? Why does it work for some and not others?

Have you tried something as simple as an uninstall yet? Might just be something wacky within CS3 that can be fixed with a blowout and reinstall of the program.

it is for premier pro 2.

you can google adobe 24f preset, it will bring you directly to the page, but alas, doesnt work for cs3..give it a try and see if things are different for you.

Someone referred me to this:

Quote from Canon's site:

"In 60i mode, you have the standard NTSC interlaced video field rate. 30F and 24F offer full frame rates for additional clarity and a film-like look. These Frame modes have the same look as progressive frame rates, but are not labeled "progressive" because they are created with an interlaced chip. The end result is exactly the same to the editing system (and to our eyes) as 30p and 24p, respectively."

In other words, in 30p & 24p modes, there is no temporal displacement in each frame, ie there's no fielding. If that's the case, you'll want to use a progressive preset (1080p) for any rendering.

Hope this helps.

Its because of things like this that happened to me that I switched to Vegas. I know this does not help you Papa but premier was pissing me off left and right. I don't believe the programmers crossed their T's and dotted their I's.

thanks moviemaker, but it doesn ot help as it still imports my footage as 44 fps.. this has nothing to do with the project settings.

i've been using premiere cs3 with hx-a1 footage for a while and no problems with either 24f or 30f.
for 24f footage just pick the hdv 30p preset and customize it to 23.976fps timeline. works without problems here.
