C200: C70 A/C adapter - Generic adapter possible?

Hello all,

I'm in need of another A/C adapter for my new C70. The CA-CP200L costs $220 for some ungodly reason!

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434329-REG/canon_3100c002_compact_ca_cp200l_ac_power.html

Now, in the past I've been able to use generic A/C adapters for other cameras with no issues. Does anyone know if there's a generic version of the CA-CP200L available anywhere?

An alternative is something like this CA-CP200, which seems to be a power adapter for Canon printers:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Oe...rentrq:f1f2ffae1780ab8f4817b404ffea521a|iid:1

I'm not an electrician, but looking at the printed specs, to me this CA-CP200 looks very close to the CA-CP200L that comes with the C70. Does anyone know if something like this would be usable with a C70?

The official C70 adapter (CA-CP200L) says the following:

INPUT: 100V-240V 50/60Hz
90VA-120VA
OUTPUT: 24V 1.8A

And right below that is says:

INPUT: 100V-240V AC 50/60Hz
1.0A(100V)-0.6A(240V)
OUTPUT: 24V 1.8A 43.2W
2000m
CAN ICES-3(B)/NMB-3(B)

Now, the Ebay one (CA-CP200) says the following:

INPUT: 100V-240V 50/60Hz
117VA-150VA
1.5A(100V)-0.75A(240V)
OUTPUT: 24V DC 2.2A

There are some differences between the two models, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if they translate to meaningful differences in practice. Anyone with more electrical experience care to chime in? I would love to only pay $14 for the Ebay one vs $220 for the official one, but not if it's going to fry my C70!

Thanks!

As long as voltage and minimum amperage is the same, you'd be fine, assuming the correct plug is used. Not sure why Canon is being so weird about power supplies lately. Power supplies are very simple bits of circuitry and hardware.

Any idea if the power supply I found above on Ebay fits the voltage and minimum amperage? I'm not really sure what I'm looking at when I read those specs.

Seriously. There is absolutely no reason for this thing to cost $220.

Oh, there's a reason... $$$

Just like everything else - but power, media and cables are the worst. Those $400-$500 Canon batteries are silly.

At least lenses are a part of a unique IQ pipeline.

If anyone's interested, the CA-CP200 (printer A/C adapter) I bought on Ebay for $14 works perfectly to power the camera. No need to spend $220 to plug into the wall.

Woo hoo!

I just tried the cable that attaches to the C200 battery charger. That seems to work fine, too. It's the CA-CP200 B not the CP200 L included with the C70.

You just need to show your printer to a good specialist for servicing. If it works fine and you can reboot it, surely there are chances to reset it to work properly. Something has gone wrong with settings. It is not a major problem. I am from Amsterdam, weblink. If I were closer to you, I could help. Or contact me directly, possible I will be able to provide more instructions.
