C500: C500 New at $6,999 is it worth it?

Obviously 4K, but if they added 4K 60P, shoulder mount style something between the FS7 and C700, four combo AES/EBU and analog XLR inputs with AD conversion by Apogee, a better Canon version of the Zacuto Grip Relocater, built in-in Prores codecs and added genlock and TC in and out, getting rid of HDMI and replacing it all with only BNCs. Price it at $8k and watch it dominate the FS7 MKII.

I think you can forget about all of you wishes above, except a 4K mode. I suppose that the C100 Mark III will have 4K, but only with 24/25p and with consumer codecs. But as usual, you will be able to get better bitrates with an external recorder. My two cents.

And we need a Canon cinema camera that can easily shoot 4K/60P for less than $28,000!!!

Well, maybe there will be a deal for $27,999. And for $28,000 you can soon get a Canon camera that shoots 4.5K/120p.

haha, I would never spend that much money on a camera...there are better things to spend $30K on in life.

Plus, I'm too neurotic and would have buyer's remorse the second I would open the box.

FS-7 MKII will be the one to follow. A marginal improvement will keep the status quo.

And indeed, if the early FS-7 MKII spec teases are accurate, the improvements are marginal and the status quo is in place. For the time being.

FS-7 II is an interesting choice visavis C300 MKII. Two grand apart in the US and almost identical pricing in Europe (there's got to be some sort of a currency exchange thing). For a US based retailer, stepping up C300II* has just gotten a lot easier.

*Presuming they have it in stock.

Some are predicting the C300 MKII dropping to $9,999.00 around NAB 2017. Some of us are REALLY hoping that happens ;-)

C300 Mark II is in stock in B&H. And I am sure Jim Martin and Terry Nixon can get any customers a new C300 Mark II.

Sony fans often tout "Specs" to defend their cameras. Wondering how Sony supporters look at the FS7 II which has negligible improvements in specs and close to 20% hike in price.

It's still not as bad as a $16,000 C300 Mark II...sorry, but that was insane. But I guess it was 2015 for what it's worth.

But with that said, if it dropped to $10K, I would probably get one even with the dreadful reminder of no 4K/60p.
