C300 MK I.jpgC300 MK II.jpg

C300 MKI vs MKII I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell which is which.

Just a quick dirty test, I exposed both cameras right before clipping. Native ISO, F8, C300 MKII was shot in 4k RAW. Did a quick grade and tried to push the MKI footage but it fell apart instantly. This is Clog vs Clog2 obviously.

I've also found that lowering the ISO to 400 on the MK II and pushing in post 2 stops has minimal very minimal noise in shadow areas.

The function button on the back of the C300 Mark I/Mark II allows you to quickly toggle through the main camera settings (wb -> ISO -> shutter speed); you then use the joystick to select a setting within each one.

The Mark II adds the option of pressing the function button once and then using the joystick to move to each main setting (left - right) and select within each one (up/down).

So, yeah, it's one more step than the C100 but you do not need to reach around to the side of the camera and select one of three different buttons. In practice the function button is very quick to do once you are used to it.

It's still an additional step. Sometimes I forget when I'm shooting C300 and try to quick-adjust ISO using the toggle. It's super frustrating that I'm not able to do so and I don't see any good reason why not. Streamlining functionality between the cameras is important IMO as many users go back and forth between both models.

If they can add it, they should.

Household tungsten overhead light with various colors coming from laptop screen lighting his face. ISO 4000, I believe, but I could be remembering wrong.

Like I said, I'm not sure if that was 4000 ISO.

Here is a frame grab from the first C300 Mark II I got on Monday.

Looks like I'm filming a TV screen with those lines in the image. I showed it to Canon and they said the sensor was defective, so they contacted B&H and B&H overnight shipped me a new camera which arrived on Friday. I was in the middle of a five day shoot which I wanted to use it on at the time; oh well. We stuck with the Sony FS7 for the shoot.

All seems to be working well now except that the joystick on the handle seems to have a problem when going to the right, as if something is blocking it. It works fine sometimes, but other times is stuck and not wanting to go right at all. Can be a pain when sifting through the menus. Anyone else have this issue?

Is Clog2 clean/useable in unavoidable low light conditions or should we be shooting in another profile to achieve cleaner blacks in low light? In addition to noise, I'm hearing its recommended to overexpose clog2 a few stops to keep it clean?

I'm finding C-log1 is a little better in low light. Still doing more tests. We did a 2 stop push on the Amira and C300mk2 at 800ISO/Log2. Under exposing by 2 stops and pushing back up. The amira held up fine with a bit of noise the mk2 was unusable. Doing more tests as I have the time. Here's a shot from the other night when I was walking my dog. Autofocus at 10,000 ISO Clog1, looking completely usable.

Graded and ungraded.

Thanks Jon, good to know. I'm seeing the same things now that i've got a chance to test it out, seeing a ton of noise with clog2 underexposed. As a doc shooter, seems like I'll use clog2 in well lit and/or high contrast situations, but it seems like a great tool to have when needed.

Anyone using noise reduction? I've got clog1 with NR set at 5 and it looks quite clean in low light w/ 5000-6400 ISO.

Quick test shot, frame grab from 120 fps filmed in Wide DR at I think around ISO 1000 at f/1.8 with the Sigma 18-35, shutter at 1/120 (it should be at 1/240 for 120 fps, but there wasn't a lot of light and it was a quick test).

I did a fun little test shoot as an evaluation which I'll post soon. Was happy to see the 2K 60FPS wasn't cropped.
