C300: C300 MKII Clog, luts, custom profile. Learning sources!

Hi guys,C300 mkii owners and Canon users. I have a low budget commercial job to do,interiors, bar, lots of skin tones! it's a scene in a bar with a 5 women talking to each other about a product!controlled lights (unfortunately not a big budget so it will be minimal lightning and crew) nothing complicated I'd say.I also will be using my Canon cine primes lenses on this job so i'm covered from this point of view.
I'm more of a Sony guy,I've always used Sony cameras and have different Sony cams! and for this job I have decided to use my new purchased C300 MKII, I won't be doing the post production, rushes will be given to the client and from what I understand they will be doing minimal color grading! With Sony I have no problem using Slog and a lut applied or a custom PP.I was thinking to use Clog with lut or custom pp but I'm having hard times to find info and resources and learning curves, tips about Clog, luts and or custom pp that works out of the camera so the client can have a good image with a little bit of color grading.
To be honest I like what i see from this camera out of the box but i'm totally new to this cam and the C line and I would like to use the maximum potential of this camera and learn more about it from people with more experience than me (and it doesn't take much with canon cameras:embarasse)
Many thanks in advance
Sam

I have been recently using an xc15 along side my C300 mkii on production look. To match I'm using CP Wide DR, Rec 709 and production camera gamma. Looks great straight out the box. Only a slight grade sometimes and it's good to go.

Give it a try. Sometimes using log is just hassle.... If you need comparison screens I'm thinking of creating a video showing multiple profiles. There's like 1 or 2 on YouTube and vimeo

Thank you Greg,I'll try this now as I have this weekend to do some tests,so any advice/input is welcomed! It would be great to see this video comparison.
Thanks

Will there be a grade of the final spot or just a cleanup of rec 709? Personally I like C log 3 and 12bit RGB . Lots to work with there in post if there will be time & budget for a real grade in post. Other wise wide dr , rec 709 and cine gamma- i find production camera gamma a little bland for my taste , can get you close to a finished look.

Thanks Mark,I will definitely try that one too. The director told me they will grade the final spot. I will be able to talk to the editor on Monday but the director already told me that they will be doing "basic color grading" so we're not talking about an "expert" colorist! just basic "touches here and there"!!!
I was thinking that maybe best thing would be Log with a lut applied on set so the director (and me!) would see what final result they can obtain and then also hand them over the lut so they can apply it when editing and have the possibility to do some other grading if they need so! at least that what I would have done if I were using Sony cam!

My understanding is that one of the goals of Canon Log 3 was to be easier to grade than Canon Log 2. So if you're not going Wide DR+709+your fav gamma, etc, Log 3 might be worth consideration. Lots of info out on the web (too much, as usual). But here are two articles that seem worth the read:

Canon Log 3: Is It the “GoldiLog”?

Understanding Canon's Log Curves (PDF file)

Do you have time to do a couple super-quick tests that you can send to the editor so the two of you can figure out if Log makes sense for your entire production chain (ie- if Log's not too much for post)?

Thanks Jim,great resources & info! and thank you for the tip also. I will do that and send him a test clip and see where we proceed from there! If I were to edit this one I would have gone for the Canon log...

Thank you for the link,I watched them already. I think I will go with Canon log 3,anyone have a good Lut for log 3 interiors to advice!? I've downloaded luts from Canon website and for now I like what I see!
Thank you all for replying
