C300: C300 MK II vs. C500 w/ 7Q+

Hi Mitch or anyone who kmows - quick question as this is not clear to me - I am setting up a C500 & 7Q+ and I am trying to figure out if the 7Q+ will record a 4K Pro Res file from the C500 without purchasing the raw bundle upgrade for the 7Q+? thanks.

You will need the RAW License on your 7Q+ to record 4K ProRes from Canon C500. This is because the Canon C500 does not have any baseband 4K video output, just 4K RAW output. The Odyssey7Q+ De-Bayers the 4K RAW into video and then compresses it to ProRes. If the camera you were using had built in De-Bayer and 4K baseband video out you wouldn't need a license. (Also worth noting: Some cameras have internal 4K De-Bayer, BUT it's an inferior De-Bayer compared to what the 7Q does, so better to have the license.)

I have worked quite a bit with the C500/7Q combo in the past and I now own C300mk2 & 7Q with RAW license.
