C300: C300 Mark II vs Ursa Mini 4.6k footage

Not a fan of the Teal and Orange grade with the C300 Mk2 footage, but otherwise the image looks great.

The Ursa Mini 4.6k link isn't working... :-(

thats the big question mark for me. if this is to work in my various needs, proress 422 LT with a solid 3200iso is pretty desired.
I think there is a chance for 3200 but a little. It will be clean up to 1600iso I guess.
Anyway! I think we have to agree that ursa's footage is looking better :) My question is: was that shot prores or raw?

think your missing the point of the Ursa - its a cinema camera mainly for use with controlled lighting, not run n gun high iso - and to me its image has a nicer feel to it than the Canon. The c300 will come into its own with uncontrolled stuff - they are cameras aimed at 2 different markets, although it's still interesting to me that the Ursa looks more 'cinematic' in natural light than the c300 does in a controlled environment (imho)

Using those two videos as examples, I think the URSA footage looks WAY better than the C300 MkII footage. Issue is though, they are two very different videos. URSA's appears to be natural lighting, which is kind of an odd marketing choice considering BMD has tended to lean towards controlled environment work.

If they haven't already, Canon really needs to release some real-world examples of C300 MkII footage; documentary footage, natural lighting, etc.

Even though I do not like the C300 or the EOS cinema line, I can still recognize that the lighting, grading and the overall way it was shot is really hurting objectivity here. If Laforet had this camera to do a Mobius style short, lots of outdoor / natural light and other setups, I think we'd all have a much better idea of what it looks like. Not that I'm anything close to a real DP... but I'm guessing the longer this video stays up, the more it's going to negatively impact potential sales / orders.

Just watched the canon c300 mark II short and actually thought it looked thin and very video like compared to what the original mobius looked like when laforet shot it. Although lighting looked pretty good most of the time on this latest short, it had no texture to it at all in comparison to the new ursa footage. It's something special to me about that Bmd mojo. It's in the sensor. On a side note, I really dislike the look of Bmd last two cameras and still for some reason much prefer the look of the original Bmcc, and pocket.

Anyway! I think we have to agree that ursa's footage is looking better :) My question is: was that shot prores or raw?

The title at 2:05 says shot in RAW 4:1.

My vote is for the URSA 4.6K footage. Definitely has a better feel to it, to me. Too much slowmo in that clip, though. Wish there was more normal frame rates to better evaluate it.

I also agree the original C300 shorts during the Hollywood debut seemed better than this Mk 2 short.

Well I guess we know Bmd wanted to make a point to let the skeptics know that the black hole issue has been resolved by how many times they directed the lens into the sun, lol.

Lol. You guys are judging cameras based off of ONE video each! Really? I think they both look good. I think each can look better. One is shot all natural light, one with production.

Haveing worked with the C line and the bmd4k I can see the benifit of each camera. But when it comes to an all around package I personally would reach for the c300ii for what I do. Which is different shooting environments from assignment to assignment. Knowing I have a camera that could "round the bases". Need to steal a shot at 12000iso? Covered. Need fast working "proven" camera with XLR, ND, and even dual focus? Covered. Need a camera that can face heat, humidity, damp, dust and torture? Covered.

But yet, they are two different cameras for very different styles. I'll just say that my bmd4k struggles to get a decent 400iso. But when it plays well it looks great. I'm sure the ursa mini will too. I just feel the c300ii will have a better batting average.

Two videos! Lol. Come on guys!!!!

Anyone who has shot with the C line knows that the color science hasn't changed.

One video wont change that.

Agreed, but it is still a disappointing example of what the Canon can likely do... I really don't like the blue windows in the background of the bar near the pool table and I would be interested in seeing this footage with more subtle color correction.
