C100: C200 price predictions

What price are you expecting the C200 to be released at?

With the C300mk2 currently at $12000 and the C100mk2 at $4000, can we expect the C200 to sit somewhere in the middle around $8000?

$8,000.00 sounds about right to me. You never know with Canon, I feel they introduce most of their cameras at a too high price for the first wave, then by second wave they are at the price they should have been at all along, then as the desirability of the model fades, they dump the price way down like they did on the C500. If they dump the C300 MKII down to $9,999.00, it might be too confusing though to have a newer camera at just $2k less, so maybe the new camera at $6k to $7k?

I'm gonna go high...... closer to $10,000. Then as always within a year or so, they will drop the price to $8000 and the C300 to $10,000.

This is the most interesting part for me. The C200 and the new Panasonic are going to make a splash of some kind and price adjustments among their competition seem inevitable. Maybe the C100 will come down a bit? Or the C300 MkI? It is going to be interesting no matter what.

Did this need a separate thread? The other C200 discussion drifted just fine into the luthier category. (Michael, you try to make a Tonika).

Anyway, C100 MKII goes down to $3000. C200 comes out at $6,000. C300 MKII stays at $12,000.

Well not by my choice...... blame Mitch for that. My day time job has nothing to do with making cameras, I use them to promote my day time job. Mitch introduced a rather far fetched comparison between the two.

BTW, B&H had a one of their stealth adds which appeared on my my Facebook having the C100 MKII at $3600. When you call them up they have no Idea what you are talking about.

I think you are dreaming the C200 will be $6000. The C100 MK II was $6500 when it came out..... without 4K. The C200 will have more friendly form factor for shoulder mounted shooting as some have suggested so you will either pay more for that or be paying for accessories to make it work. I think not by the power of my own intellect but but relying on a few guys here who predict a new form factor following in the fashion of the C700, in both ergonomics as well as price.

Of course when the new C400 comes out shortly after the C200, the price of the C300 will drop, it all depends on when. The C200 might be enough to bring the c300 down to $10,000. Damn ,And I'm just a guitar maker, but you can take that to the bank.

It's 2017...Canon can't sell a mediocre camera for a lot of Ks anymore...$6K sounds about right for a C200.

By my subjective standards, making $8,000 guitars is pretty impressive.*

*I wasn't very good in shop class.

Plus, there'll be that mystery Panasonic somewhere around that neighborhood.

It would be so nice to have a third choice besides Sony vs. Canon in the $5k to $10k space again. I hope the Panasonic is great and the C200 is great and we have a hard time choosing between them.

Didn't mean to mess up anyone's thread. Was trying to put a comparison of video cameras into other terms to clarify.

Should I start talking about motorcycles here now? ;-)

I don't know Mitch, we are running out of things to hypothesize about your new camera after 59 pages on the other thread ;-)

Mitch in addition to my many other skills, I used to race motorcycles too. Feel free to ask me anything!

Well, now that the pictures are out, this thread can be bumped - all the way to $6,500.
