C100: C100 with the Blackmagic Video Assist feedback? 2:3 pulldown

Any C100 Mark I or Mark II users feedback with Blackmagic Video Assist?
I like to confirm if records external without 2:3 pulldown ? i like to remove the "conform to progressive" of the premiere workflow...

I just got one last night. I haven't had time to really get into it as I was on deadline for a project but I'll test that out later today or over the weekend.
In the meantime, here's the first impressions:
-Screen is really sharp. So nice to have full HD
-No trigger record over HDMI. Can't believe this one, but checked with BM and it's true. This alone might make me return the monitor.
-Colors don't seem that great and you can't adjust anything other than brightness, saturation, and contrast.
-No focus peaking.
-Beefy build. Seems strong, but also completely not weather resistant at all with big vent openings on the top.

Hard to say at this point if I'd recommend it.

Everyone knew this was the case beforehand. Did you not do any research before you bought it? A quick Google shows that it doesn't trigger record.

are you coming from a ninja blade use ?
I'd be happy to see if it's worth selling one to get the other.

Isn't Rec trigger supposed to be added with firmware upgrade ?

Classic Blackmagic product... great marketing but the feature lack.

Full HD screen is a great feature but who can seriously get by without record command or focus peaking. Pulldown is one thing, but record command is essential regardless of camera. Blade is the same price and is hard to beat IMO.

Well, obviously not everyone did. In my defense, I ordered it when it was first announced and quite honestly completely forgot all about it until it showed up here SEVERAL MONTHS later.
The BM brochures all mentioned trigger record, the Blade/Ninjas and most recorders all had it for years, so I didn't think much about it and just expected that it would be a standard feature.

I've used the Blade on a few shoots but don't own one. I wasn't super excited about the Blade either since one that I used had a lot of frustrating signal issues. I was hoping that this would be better. The resolution is, but that's about it.
I haven't heard about trigger rec coming via firmware, and when I asked BM about trigger rec over HDMI they didn't say anything about bringing it in the future.

It's main feature at this point is that it's dirt cheap.

I still use it and it's been very solid, but display technology has moved on. The firmware hasn't been updated for some time so it lacks a lot of Blade/Samurai/Assassin features. But if you want to get into cheap HD external recording with a monitor it's an OK option. I'd recommend spending a little more on the Blade though.

Are the Ninja Blade benefits over the Ninja 2 only as a monitor, or also as a recorder?
Is the Ninja Blade useful as a monitor outdoors in bright summer sunlight?
How does it compare as a monitor to SmallHD 501 and/or Marshall V-LCD56MDV?
 
Any feedback about the view angles and outdoors in bright summer sunlight of the Black video assist? for now the trigger record its a big issue, i hope a firmware.
 
No trigger and no peaking!?! I couldn't go about without these features on my Ninja Blade.

Playing around with it a little bit I've found that it's fairly easy to focus without the peaking since the resolution is a true 1:1. The trigger rec is still a deal breaker. I might just be making the first "re-boxing video" and sending this back. If BMD were to add trigger rec over HDMI I'd reconsider owning it.
 
Looking at the video assist as well for the C100, I saw the new firmware went live today with the peaking.

But again the record trigger over HDMI and not being able to move your focus point around seems a pain. What is the crack with the pulldown is it recording progressive?

The blade is so cheap now.
 
I saw in another thread that the 1.1 firmware update apparently allows for record triggering on the GH4. Does the C100 benefit as well?
 
Bumping this thread because I'm thinking about buying one to pair with my C100 and I'm curious to know how the 1.1 firmware update has been doing for anyone shooting with this particular combination.

How do you like the Video Assist so far? I haven't been able to find many reviews from C100 users.
