C100: C100 mk2 or C300 mk 1

I've got around £5k to invest next year in starting (in a small way) a camera hire business and within my budget I could go for either a C100 mk 2 or a second hand C300 mk 1. I already have a reasonable amount of Canon glass, a BMD video assist and a Ninja 2. Which camera body do the denizens of dvxuser would yield me the better return in terms of hires? Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this - I'm truly conflicted.

For hiring out, a C300 - it's priced beyond the budgets of many self-shooters, so it's a more logical rent/hire option.

For personal/own business use - a C100 with Ninja Blade - a far superior combo than the sum of the C300, in my opinion and experience. The C100 MkII will give you a better viewfinder if you need that, and the Blade gives you whatever flavour of ProRes/DnX HD you want and an accurate monitor that can be calibrated.

+1

From a owner/operator point of view, C100 all the way. But yes, a C300 MAY get hired more because of the C300 name.

C300 for rentals, C100MKII + Ninja Blade for yourself or you could also get a C300 and a Samurai Blade for a better rental option that would differentiate you in your market (why shoot 50Mbps MPEG with the C300s internal codec when you could be shooting 220 Mbps ProRes for the same price or just a small bump in rental cost) The Samurai Blade goes for a mere £495.
