C100: C100 Mark III in NAB 2018?

Puredrifting, how much would the canon C700 have to cost for you to show some interest?

I thought everyone wanted a shoulder mount ENG-style c300, so is it just about price? It is canon, so at some point it will cost half of what it released for :)

For me, I might be interested in it today at around $16k, the original price of the C300 MKII. But having shot with it shoulder mounted, especially with the Codex back, it is a BEAST, it's really long and heavy. And I don't think the image looks significantly better than the C300 MKII or even my C200 unless you use the Codex workflow, which I never would. That's the problem with it, it's a neither here nor there camera. You can get a better image out of other cameras in it's price range and you can get an equal image at 1/4 of the cost with the C200 shooting CRL.

And there is the client demand too, no clients have asked for it or even know it exists. They ask me for C300 MKII, FS-7, Arri or RED. I even have to sell them that I can get a slightly better image out of the C200 than the C300 MKII but none of them will go for the CRL workflow so there you have it.

My bet is the C100mk3 will be basically 97% of a C200, but without the raw option at all.

You want get it. Its a Canon My friend. I bet 1080/60p in 10 bit and 4k/60p not more. Its even hard to place a C100 M3 with we have C200. When they give 4k/60p with more than 8 bit who will buy c200?

But in the past we had (i still have two) C100 and C300. C100 with atomos ninja blade have the same image capabilities as C300. So, maybe C100 will have internally 1080p/10 bit and 4k/8bit with 4k/10bit from HDMI output without SDI? But like someone said, Canon dont give to customers what they want

I think the announcement will be something that Canon thinks can bring more interest to the C700. I don't think that they want to just dump the camera, although they did give up on the 1DC when it was shown not to have a market. The question is what feature would bring more interest to the C700.

Actually, I just remembered that Canon added a line level input to the 1DC as an upgrade to help spur sales. So, there's that.

This is a comment from a guy on Canon Rumors forums. I thought he said it well.

"Not releasing a C100 III is going to bite Canon in the behind. In going after the high-end cinema market they're hemorrhaging wedding videographers (a significantly growing market) and independent shooters. These people (who use to be their base with the 5DmkII) aren't making more than professional photographers (who get a professional body with professional features for $3500) yet Canon thinks the C200 at $7500 is going to be the entry level product for them? For about the price of a C200 you can get two A7III's and a used FS5. That's an incredibly easy decision in Sony's favor if you need multi-cam 4k delivery, especially if you're a hybrid shooter also doing still work.

I realize there are a lot of photographers here who might not get it. If you're a pro photographer, imagine your only options in 2018 from Canon were the 80D, 5D MkII (yes II), and a $7500 1DxII.... That's about the feature and price discrepancy anybody doing video faces, and the reason we complain so much. "
