and wouldn't ya know it, as im writing this i remember i have the GCS viewfinder for my 5d, so i popped the eyecup off it and it fits pretty darn nice and stays on good, and great with a rubber band. light leak on the left, but definitely better than nothing
wondering if a cheapo VF might do the same trick:
