C100: C100 and Ninja 2 - ProRes or ProRes LT?

I used the Ninja 2 less and less to the point were I sold the it. I just didn't feel the benefits out weighed the hassle factor of the extra weight and the HDMi cable snagging things. Im also a one man band. If I pixel peep I can see the AVCHD falling apart but 99% of my final videos end up on Youtube or Vimeo where its not noticeable.

The beauty of the C100 is you can record internally AND output to the Ninja2 at the same time. This is what I do (mostly I too shoot without the Ninja2) when I'm working on a big project or one that will have high motion/detail. Then when editing, if I find a NINJA clip to look too grainy, I'll check that same clip in the AVCHD file. Sometimes, I switch out just that clip in the edit! Lower light shots, where the camera's internal NR smooths things out, do look better to me with the AVC codec, thus I will then use those clips instead of the ProRes ones.

That is the same mindset I have when working with the C100, especially since the next few projects are much bigger. It's actually getting to a point where the Ninja isn't too much of a burden anymore and I'll throw it on the cold shoe and do double recording.

Ninja + Post Noise Reduction (Neat Video or Denoiser) is better than AVCHD Internal Noise Reduction, correct? Thus, if you recorded AVCHD and ProRes, then the reason to not use the ProRes for noisy shots would be time constraints on doing post noise reduction (or not having a post noise reduction program)?

That's been my experience. Especially since the process of post noise reduction degrades the footage, the higher bitrate and information of the Prores files allows for more headroom.

I have to admit, I have absolutely no paying work where a Ninja would be appropriate (I do mostly weddings etc) but I have just pulled the trigger on one. AVCHD has been the format I have used for years. Recently I downloaded a ProRes demo file and was blown away with how creative you can get with grading etc. I will use it for the odd corporate job and all personal projects. Maybe I have more money than sense but I cant wait to have more latitude with the footage.
