I ordered a red body and he just told me today its shipped and gave me the tracking number, he says he only has gold bodies left of old stock with 1.2 firmware.

My red one turned up today... ordered on the 18th... pretty fast delivery from Taiwan to Oz in 4 days...

Not sure what Firmware version it is as all the text is in Japanese...

Do you know if you need a lens to preform the G13 Hack...

I see a new/hackable red GH1 from another seller with a kit lens....I think I'm gonna give it a shot. The 14-140 will sell for a decent price on ebay, but it is a PITA to have to sell it.

All good.. got it hacked... now have English Menus...

Seems like it defaults to Japanese after a restart... but I've not had a lens on it yet...

Need to buy one...

PS... could not figure out how to format the card while it was in Japanese...

I've got a HPX302 so formatted a SD card in that camera and then loaded the update.... worked like a charm...

Although I did forget to check the Language setting the first time I updated the Firmware..

Everything under $1000 into Oz is totally tax free...Customs here are better than in most other places! Makes buying online a breeze...
 
Got mine here in Cape Town SA. Body only, black, hacked fine... (Less than happy about the banding situation, though!)
 
I am not having any trouble with banding issues at all, just remember the 3 most important things with video filming....
1. lighting
2. lighting
3. lighting

These things are amazing in all real world situations that I use them in...

I have purchased 15 x gh1 but sold 10 to various friends who were looking at canon 5d, 7d...
once they saw the vision they were gobsmacked...
When you consider that a GH1 HD video camera body is $600 it is a bargain...
I use these cameras for all B roll work, and some main interviews , I can take extra risks with vehicle mounting etc, with out stressing if one camera gets damaged...

I will be shooting a new video for an agricultural manufacturer, so looking for to hanging these off some big machinery out in the paddocks, I have done some tests with the fat gecko mounts and the vision with the 7-14mm is stunning...

I personally think the GH2 will be a let down for many if the codec and features are not astounding, with the AF100 on the horizon I think GH2 features will be limited, so yes I am storing my nuts for the winter season...

If the GH2 is a winner, then I will get one, but I will be getting a AF100 to use as my main interview camera for audio purposes, currently I am running a Tascam DR100 which is fine you just have to remember to hit the record button each time you do a take.....
 
This guy is amazing. I have been debating if I should get a second one as a safety measure. When I finally made up my mind, the red version was already gone. I ordered a black one but stated that I wish to have a red to complement what i already have, a red, also from Japan.

He told me he did not have a red on hand and he was expecting new shipment but it turned out to be the gold version. I told him that I could wait and he amazingly looked out for me and told me in two days that he had spotted one from another supplier and would ship to me ASAP.

I just got the delivery and, it is a version 1.2 directly from Japan. What can I say? This guy is just amazing and certainly deserves this short write-up.

I wasn't so lucky. He sold me a red one via an eBay listing for a RED one...and didn't actually have one to sell. But he did promptly cancel the eBay transaction and refund my money (after a few days of NO communication), so I still trust him...he just pissed me off. I'd buy one again if he actually gets one in stock...even though I really don't need one. I just want a red body...because my job is boring and needs some flare. :D
 
I decided to buy a second one from thisisde1 - ebay seller from Taiwan...

I emailed him on last Wednesday asking if he had a black one.... he said he had one in stock...

Bought from him on Thursday and it's arrived Monday to Australia.... 3 days... amazing...

Will get the hack on it later....

Personally I fell the Black one looks much better than the Red one I bought the other day...

Now if only a lens would turn up...
