Buying GH1 - Is this a legit site?

UPS dropped off my GH1 this morning at 11:30.... Fast shipping from Amazon... My first impressions are how small it actually is. Nice camera tho.. Now to shoot sum stuff.

Start by reading the Sticky threads in the GH1 forum. Then read every other thread in there. That should tide you over until you get your GH1, which you will no doubt really enjoy.

I don't know why anyone would buy a pricey piece of equipment from anywhere other than B&H. Plus if you're having it shipped out of state you're saving $100 on tax. They have an excellent return policy. They're the best.

well, "pricey" is relative. i would never have bought my xh-a1 online at all, but a gh1?...not too worried.

The GH1 is $1899 here. And our dollar is almost at par with US dollars. But we got a good deal a few months ago at Precision Camera in Austin, TX.

These GH1 ads were at almost every Skytrain (subway) station and bus shelter since Jan + Feb. for the Winter Olympics. They just started to take them down last week, but I still see them here and there:

Has anyone bought from cameralandny on eBay?

I got mine from cameralandny for about $650 body only. i already had Nikon primes. No problems with this seller and the camera has been great!

I'm almost ready to drop the bomb on a GH1 (hurry-up tax man!) and am wondering about the potential drawbacks of buying gear from the US when I live in Canada. Like JLEO mentioned the GH1 is still $1899 here in Canada so the BH kit is around $700 cheaper than buying local.

So, what about warranty? Does anyone know if Panasonic Canada will honour a US camera warranty? Has anyone here north of the 49th had to deal with this?
