Just a pointer here for those with imported cameras.
I often think there isn't much point shooting 1/30 in 60p (best use 24p!) other than for low light footage. But I sometimes use 1/30 to get around the flickering of PAL lights with my Japanese GH1. In PAL land, 1/30, 1/50 and 1/100 are flicker free.
So what if I want slow motion or true 60p, under electric PAL lighting with my NTSC GH1 and visa versa?
You can't use 1/60 - it'd flicker under PAL lighting. You'd need to up the shutter speed to 100 or 120 respectively to avoid flicker. This costs you quite a bit of low light performance. For a NTSC camera in PAL land 1/100 is (50hz x2) so that's evenly divided and thus flicker free.
The NTSC model is slightly less compromised here. Better slow mo and 1/100 instead of 1/120 (60hz x2) under mismatched electric lighting.
