So I got a 300 and the 1710p monitor and I cannot seem to make the two play well together. My main concern is the monitor. The image is not sharp at all, in fact if I am focused on a subject and the back ground is soft it looks the opposite on the monitor. i am hooked up via SDi cable. Any thoughts??

I saw the same thing on a shoot last week in North carolina HPX 300 & BTLH 1700 monitor. With good physical separation between subject and background, the background seemed unduly sharp and the subject a little soft??? Weird.

Maybe it's lens backfocus issue, which you don't see on a small monitor? i got my bt-lh2550, hooked up to hpx500, works amazing !
once agian, check your sdi output signal (hd/sd), focus issues.

Back focus was spot on. I was using 1080 out the HDSDI port

strange... did you try setting camera to shoot 720 and see how that looks ?
