Broken Circle

Jack, that's sick.
But my example of 20 votes vs. 2000 votes is an exagerration.
If a film only gets 20 views while others are getting 2000 there's a reason and its not going to score that well.

There's really no other way to do it unless you require audience members see every film in order to be eligible to vote. That way 2 things would happen.
1) you will only get 20 ballots turned in
2) some people would just fill in scores without actually watching

Sorry B-man, not a bad film (at all) just not enough substance.

:crybaby: Why I oughta!!!

Just kidding...
but, I wish people could see the more deep meaning to the film. Ah well... It's an analogy you know... of us losing our innocence of the dark paths of life... we are drawn to it instinctively... but we choose what to do...

Anyway, back to other things... hope ya'll saw Smuggler's Ransom... that has substance (IMO)

I get you Jack, but I dont think you need to worry, no-one has been dissapointed with your film, even with the promotional threads.

we forgot to meantion Lakeside!!! - I think this has a shot of of 5 or 3 too!

Oh I wasn't lamenting the system. Just trying to explain it clearly.

Yeah lakeside was definitely solid and I think very commercial (and I mean that as a compliment).

lake side was WAY better than "my little Eye", the DVX straight to cable and DVD feature.

JP is right - im off to bed too now 2:46am.......

good luck to all of you! This has been more fun than most festivals I've attened and I feel Ive chatted to nicer people too.

Whoever wins out of you guys, you really deserve it!

night!

Hey, good night all! (to those who are retiring.) I had some PM's to take care of...

Brandon, I loved what you did. You should know that. I just don't know how to rate a film like ITD over something as complex as the others that I've seen. Maybe it's because you set it up to be a quick hour with your brother just to contribute that puts me in that state.

Perhaps, and I am NOT lecturing, if you didn;t tell people that... they would think that you spent weeks and months laboring over this shoot and produced this haunting film.

Maybe I approached ITD the same way... knowing that you wanted to participate and did this.

For what it is, it is really haunting.

darkline, i felt that even though the fest is over, i should give you one last bump... so here it is in all it's glory.

BUMP!

good job, man. i totally called you with this one. bravo!

Um, Kyle? Did you post this in the wrong thread? I know they're both from the UK, but not sure Darkline had anything to do with BROKEN CIRCLE.

That said, JP, both Ryan & I thought BROKEN CIRCLE would place higher than R.E.M. Sorry 'bout that ... not sure what happened, as we both really loved your film. You did a GREAT job with it. REALLY REALLY REALLY looking forward to your next film!

your placing in the fest is criminal in my opinion!

But dont let that bother you JP. You made a film which many thought would win and you need to take that and go forth with new vigour for your next film.

Along with a few others you have made me feel at home on these boards and I'm so happy Ive found another Brit on here with whom I can relate to :)

Broken Circle is a film that was really taking a risk! Some of the finest works are not universally applauded. You didnt go for the commercial jugular, you did your own thing, something unique, something which many applauded. Look at it this way, if Blair Witch had been on these boards there isnt a chance it would win either. Too much opinion.

Yours was one of the most talked about films of the fest and I hope you're going to take all the positives from this and I'll see you in the next one!

Thanks for all the fun you've brought to these boards too JP!

JP, I know that I have said this to you in a PM but I am going to repeat it here.

This scoring system left out one very important factor to consider... The Heart or How Did It Make You Feel or Did You Enjoy The Film factor.

When you break a film down to its fundamentals, its hard to see the film for what it is... a film!

You put together a film that was fun and exciting to watch. You were robbed by a system. Not by your admirers. At least, not by me.

I loved your film!

Now go make another one!!!

Broken Circle 20th was the talk of the day here in Greece. Guess that shows that if they dont get...well they just cant get it.....

JP man you know how we feel about B.C....Love it!
