Brevis35 Test

HeyHey

Just recieved my Brevis. Did a quick backyard test.

I haven't tweaked it completely, nor have I found the best settings in the DVX, so don't take this clip as a definative judgement on the quality of the adapter...

So far I really, really like it. It's light, easy to mount, the sharpness seems very good (although I'm still tweaking) and light loss is minimal...

Anyway. Shot with a 28-80mm lens at f/4. Letterboxed, rotated, adjusted Brightness/contrast and compressed as WMV (around 75mb)..

Krummi those colours are so rich. I wouldn't even bother to tweak that image. The brevis is sharp. I always thought it was very soft. I stand corrected. I noticed a little vignetting but wasn't so sure if it was vignetting or you had not zoomed in enough.

thanks man...

Vignetting is probably because I didn't zoom in quite enough. Thought I had it until capture..didnt see it on the monitor nor the TV, but offcourse I forgot to account for that damn underscan so I noticed the edges of the GG creeping in on the bottom...

anyway, I'll have some more lively shots up, hopefully by the end of this week..

Impressive shots! Yeah, there was some vignetting, but I didn't think it looked bad. The images were very smooth and the colors were so rich and vibrant. This definately seems like a pretty darn good adapter.

Krummi, nice work. That is a beautiful picture. Mind explaining how you exported/compressed that? The file was relatively small yet the picture was big and didn't lack any fps it looked like. Thanks!

wow...im very impressed with the quality...i'm looking to make an adapter purchase soon. hmm, brevis or m2?

Compressed it with the Sorensen 3 package withing Premiere Pro 2. I chose WMV9 and just increased the size to full PAL size (ahh, forgot to mention that it was shot on a PAL DVX100a 25p) and increased the bitrate. I'll check on the setting when I get from work..

I'm actually not sure where the music came from. It was in an unmarked CD I own...so until I figre something more out it's called "Track 4" ;)

yupyup. Redrock Macro on it. No problem zooming in and no appearant chromatic abberation

the song is "Twenty Two Fourteen" by The Album Leaf. I love that album.

Haha. I've been listening to that song for such a long time and had no idea. Thanks man!

Couple of questions.

How long is the wait for this?
Do you need the HD adaptor they have or can you get on from R (which I think you have?)

I would definitely buy this over the RR for image and form factor.

Is it me or do those blacks look kind of diffused? Did you have any filters on....promist etc...
