Bought a 7D!

FInally took the plunge. Seemed like a good deal, and, well, it isn't that expensive of a camera to buy as a a test cam.

First impressions:

Impressive LCD. Coming from the HVX (non a), this one is an improvement. Easy to focus (haven't tried dailight yet)

FOcus assist- didn't know these things had some sort of focus assist. However, cannot control this feature very well yet.

Absolutely stunning imagery- yes, aliasing and moire in 720p, but incredible dinamic range and much better look than a 35mm adapter.

Not much noticeable rolling shutter- this will be great for GP

IS actually works very well.

Excelent still camera.

Easy to work codec, and great looking compression- Just played with 720p, but easy and fast to transcode to Prores.

Don't like:

Everything menu driven- aperture, Iso, etc.- I like my Nikon lenses way more than Canon's auto nonsense.

Battery hungry

1.6 crop is a curse and a blessing- good for telephoto- a 24-70 becomes a good small telephoto lens, but terrible for wides- the very expensive 16x35mm becomes a 26x57... And don't want to invest in APS-C lenses, since I want to upgrade to the 1D Mark IV!

Everything menu driven- aperture, Iso, etc.- I like my Nikon lenses way more than Canon's auto nonsense.

menu driven? one dial controls aperture, the other shutter speed. a combination of button+dial controls ISO. a different button+dial combo controls white balance. otherwise, great input :)

You'll want a hoodloupe or something for daytime shots. Pretty tough to judge proper focus and exposure in bright light.

Just did a small steadicam (glidecam smooth shooter) test. Works great. Next up, Jib test at night. So far, in dailight, not much of a problem However, LCD is too small to notice Moire while shooting. WIll definitely need a Zfinder type of add on.

aps c does have something i really like....it shoots and aims only for the sweet spot (sharpest) of the lens glass.
