C100: Bluetooth Audio Transmitter

I would expect there would be some latency. That said, you "could fix it in post"....damn it...made me say everyones favorite phrase.

It's not to record, just to transmit to bluetooth headphones to keep an ear on the audio while running around.
Latency was my main concern if it's a bit much it might be weird.

Latency has been associated with BT for as long as it's been around in the consumer audio. The best you are going to do is select a product with 4.1/aptX technology. Even then, notice how they are all billed as "low-latency". If it's used only for audio QC, this shouldn't drive you crazy. I wouldn't go cheap on this equipment- that would likely lead to frustration. The other issue might be no-pair situation with whatever headphones you use with that xmiter. Your call.

Yeah, the audio latency associated with blue tooth makes it unusable for monitoring audio. The low latency monitoring systems are generally fine. The aptx standard in the link above is generally passable when watching video, but it would still sound like an echo if you tried to use it for monitoring audio occurring in the same space. You will need something that is listed as suitable for IEM. I've never seen anything selling for less than a $100 that will do what you want.

The latency was my main issue, thanks for the info, it's probably not worth the hassle but it would be nice to be wireless.

^Just so I understand what you did have in mind- It seems you were looking to monitor SQ, at the camera, to understand whether on-cam mic and/or in-cam settings were doing their job? If so, wireless makes little to no sense. Now if you are envisioning being plugged into a mixer and operating the camera, yeah, maybe it's a OK idea in THEORY. One way or the other it's not a good idea to even try wireless. I just finished trying out a new miniature 4.1 chip xmiter and the thing sucked. This was up against some very nice B&W wireless cans. Out $40 but got an answer as to whether newer tech works. I'm sure living room audiophiles get by with it but it will never fly filming in a RF-rich environment.

Has anyone tried hooking up a bluetooth audio transmitter to their camera and using bluetooth headphones for monitoring audio while running around handheld, instead of being wired in?

Something like this looks very small:

YEP. I have done this and the advantage in my mind is not being plugged in to the camera for head phones monitoring, so if I have to set the camera down and swap a lens, and some one across the room asks me a question while in the middle of swapping lenses, I don't pull the camera off the table when I turn around to talk to that person. A little latency doesn't bother me, nor does audio. Quality because I'm listening to a mix of people talking, not the philharmonic, as long as I can hear people's voices ok I'm good to go.
