Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

Canon has one 8-15 f4 very sharp and Rokinon 8mm . That would give us 18 mm fov and the distortion ...well the wides in Inception where very distorted IMO but then Im going off topic.

But, you are taking a crop of the center of the image as well, so how much of the distortion you get I think changes as you go out with the wider lenses. That's been my experience.

About right. F4 is slow though. This is more of an issue than anything else.

Yes. The high dr makes it look really Filmic. Not dof. Not sensor size.

My only qualms with the cam is i dont have lenses that are wide enough for it. But i do hope 11 is plenty enough

From what I'm reading this is a 2x crop (someone correct me if I'm wrong) on 35mm lenses. If my math is smart, 17mm is equivalent to a 27.2mm FOV on my aps-c canon sensor (1.6x crop) and will be 34mm on the BMCC. That's the widest I own right now until I buy the Tokina someone suggested to me upthread. So with an 11mm lens the BMCC will take that and make it 22mm which will fit the bill nicely...

And 14 is what I need to get to gh2's 17mm, which is the widest I ever need or want to go on that camera. Works for me.

In terms of zoom you have the olympus 14-35 f2.0 for m43 and the soon to come panasonic 12-35 f.28. They have thre coresponding 35-100 also. A 24mm would equal more than a 50 mm on photo 135ff, so I don't think anyone would consider it as a wide. Perhaps you are use shooting only talking heads or exterior, if else you would see why people woud need wider lense. I an not talking about ultrawide but at least a 24 mm (again I am talking photo size). So the only solution would be for now the 11-16 Tokina, which is a good lens, but I think thats it. Now in M43 you have the 12mm olympus at f2 (that you mentioned) but also the slr magic 12 f1.6. You also have the 17 and 25mm f.09 voiglander lens, and many other comming out that are design to mimic standart lens focal range with fast apertures. The longer end is ok because ith the flange distance you can adapt more or less everything.

This is why I see your post a bit bizar. Because for this sensor size the m43 lenses are much more adapted. The olympus f.2 and the voighlander would make this camera much more closer to the look (dof) of the larger sensor camera. I really hope they put it on the priority list even before PL mount. Because the market they are aiming at does not have that much money for cine lens and if need be someone can put a pl adapter to a M43 mount.

EF has a 13mm, 14mm and 15mm at f2.8. Not super fast but M4/3 only currently has two lenses faster then that and one is f2.0 so only slightly faster.

While Panasonic may have some upcoming f2.8 zooms these are not really confirmed and they are not here yet. Why use a mount for lenses that may be coming? Almost every focal length of EF lenses has about twice as many options as M4/3 . EF has plenty of 24mm f1.4 lenses and lots of f1.8 lenses up to 135mm. I typically shoot with a M4/3 20mm and many others who shoot M4/3 use Nikon and FD lenses at 24mm. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have just that it is not as hopeless of a situation as some would make it out to be. Every lens is measured in terms of 35mm so a 20mm M4/3 lens is the same as a 20mm EF lens. Maybe the DOF is slightly different but the focal length is the same. So EF does have the same options pretty fast all the way down to 13mm. Thats not all that bad. Look I'm a M4/3 user myself and love the format to death but when the BM camera was announced Monday I quickly did some research as to EF lens options and found it to be very similar to the M4/3 options except a lot more of them. Of course there are two or three unique M4/3 gems but not enough to say M4/3 would be a better option. Any focal length you can get in M4/3 you can get in EF except for the Panasonic 7-14mm.

The other problem I could see with M4/3 is Panasonic's inability to make the darn things fast enough. The GH2 has been a huge hit but some lenses have been very hard for companies to keep in stock. I doubt Panasonic or Olympus or any of the third party M4/3 lens makers could keep up with the demand since they can't do it now.

And EF has a 13mm, 14mm and 15mm at f2.8 so pretty well covered for most people. Faster then that I think you need to move to a Sigma 20mm at f1.8.
