FEATURE: blackhats - Another Reel One Entertainment Movie

Yesterday it was officially announced.

#blackhats will premiere August 14th at 8pm in Austin, TX as
part of the Capital City Black Film Festival.

They will be hosting 5 of our lead cast members: Errol Sadler, Doris Morgado, Ted Huckabee, Cheri Christian and Neko Parham as well as myself (Producer/Co-Writer), Director Laron Austin and Producer/Co-Writer Eddie Singleton.

We love the fact that we'll be screening in an indie town like Austin and hope the event goes over well.

We have other festival dates to announce soon as well as release information.

Thanks to everybody who has shown interest over time with this thread. More updates soon.

Heh, just kidding around - but seriously, it could be worse. Some years ago I wrote a screenplay based on a certain premise - it took me a solid year of multiple drafts, before it was ready; I then started doing some heavy duty prep work getting funding etc... and about a month later a major - MAJOR Hollywood film came out with exactly the same premise, only of course it had A list actors and did a ton of business. You can imagine where my script ended up - that's right, in the drawer. One year's work - and I don't have didly squat to show for it. All you have to deal with is a title, and yes, I realize it's a bummer, but man, it can be so much worse. But anyhow, for real, congrats and I wish you all the success - it's a ton of work, and you deserve major kudos.

We had a great time in Austin and the screening went very well. The place was packed and the audience had great questions afterwards.

Then a post-screening red carpet was great with tons of people seeking photos with our cast.

The afterparty was great and again seemingly we were a hit there.

I will try to do a more comprehensive post but in brief. The Premiere went GREAT!

Doris is the lady in pink? I concur. She's wearing it well.

I like the clips that I see on the news show. Looks like some good action. Great job on keeping some of those actors that have gone more mainstream over the years also.
